By the time the millennium rolled around, fans had spent nearly a decade waiting for the new Guns 'N Roses record, while one of the band's original guitarists linked up with fellow Gunners Gilby Clarke and Matt Sorum in 1995 to release a record under the moniker Slash's Snakepit. Five years later, these famous names were jettisoned in favor of relative unknowns. The resulting album, AIN'T LIFE GRAND, found the top-hatted axe-man going from creating what might have been the next G'N'R record to conjuring up some fine hard rock reminiscent of vintage Kiss and Aerosmith. (Hiring the latter's long-time '70s producer Jack Douglas didn't hurt in achieving this goal).
Slash's new frontman Rod Jackson possesses a raspy howl veering between Paul Stanley's sinister delivery (the creepy "Serial Killer") and Lenny Kravitz's soulful pleading (the hook-laden power-ballad "Back to the Moment"). Throughout, the guitarist's distinctive riffing defines AIN'T LIFE GRAND, whether on the swirling stomp of "Shine" or the hard-hitting boogie of "Been There Lately." The slinky title track also pleasantly surprises, thanks to a sultry marriage of saucy back-up singers, wailing sax, and rollicking piano.
Asian version of second album from former Guns N' Roses guitarist. Includes two exclusive bonus tracks, 'Rusted Heroes' and 'Something About Your Love'.
Asian edition features two bonus tracks.

In the early '80s, Collins took a break from the helm of Genesis to inaugurate a solo career that abandoned his group's art-rock agenda for a mainstream pop approach. In the ensuing years, the king of Nice Guy Pop established himself as one of the world's premier top 40 balladeers, as evidenced by the wall-to-wall hits that make up the balance of this appropriately titled collection. HITS walks the listener through the smooth, well-produced Collins hits that have worked their way into the collective consciousness of radio listeners (even casual ones) over the years. There are majestic power ballads ("I Wish It Would Rain") to light-hearted, infectious pop-funk ("Sussudio") and moody atmospheric pieces ("In the Air Tonight") HITS represents the full range of material this prolific performer has turned out over the course of his wildly successful career.

| | Icon Of Coil Serenity Is The Devil CD (2001)
Ain't Life Grand music CDs
$13.29 Imagine an electronic industrial act putting together a release that was a collection of songs, each and every one carefully constructed to be destined for a dancefloor. Full electro sounds, driving beats, and most tracks with the beats-per-minute turned up. That release is Serenity Is the Devil. Icon of Coil has distilled the dance industrial experience with this release, in ways that peers such as Apoptygma Bezerk and Convenant have not before. Each track drives its way forward, through tracks destined for club longevity, such as "Shallow Nation," "Former Self," and "Floorkiller," with just enough variety to stop ...

Ain't Life Grand music CDs
$10.55 Metalcore merchants the Warriors come across like seasoned pros on their 2004 Eulogy debut War Is Hell -- but then, the band's members seem to have been extremely attentive students of the early-'90s hardcore teachings of Sick of It All, Murphy's Law and Agnostic Front. More recent touchstones from both the punk (Refused) and metal (Converge) worlds also inform the gang-shout choruses and general guitar and drum detonations of songs like "Slings and Arrows," "The Cure" and the title track -- all of which regularly display a fondness for flashy guitar work that more basic punk rock would never touch. Save for a lone exception during "Scene Celebrity," the crossover line is drawn at proper guitar ...

Ain't Life Grand album
$6.69 Established during the spring of 2001 as the brainchild of singer-songwriter, Kris Jarvis, Destinations Unknown was initially conceived as a three-piece art rock band with moving interchangeable parts. Since then, Destinations Unknown has mostly been a solo effort mixing acoustic punk, alt-country and power pop arrangements with softer lyrical ballads and melodies.Over the past few years, Destinations Unknown has emerged unscathed from the occasional live gig played here and there at some of the cozier, more intimate venues around the United States. Opting not to follow the pack, DU has taken a low-key, unconventional approach toward making music that has defied industry trends and set DU apart from most everyone else making music at the moment. At the same time, DU has resisted making music that is formulaic or crassly commercial. ...

$44.69 | | Nothing Comes Easy CD (2007) (Import) United Kingdom
Ain't Life Grand CD music
$15.95 "20 Hard-Edged Stompers From The British Beat Era!" proclaims the front cover artwork for this collection (assembled by Nick Saloman of the Bevis Frond) of rare U.K. single sides released between 1964 and 1966. Trouble is, previous little of the material on Nothing Comes Easy sounds all that hard-edged or stomping compared to what the Kinks, the Rolling Stones or the Yardbirds were doing at the time, not to mention any number of far raunchier American garage bands. Despite that, for fans of the lesser tributaries of the British pop scene in the mid-'60s there are some real treats on board. The Peasants bring some nasty guitar licks to "Got Some Lovin' for You Baby," the Rats deliver a hilarious hymn of praise to booze on "Gimme That Wine" ("I can't get well without muscatel!"), Swedish interlopers the Panthers groove hard with "I'll Be Pleased," the Luvvers sound a lot tougher without usual frontwoman Lulu on "Most Unlovely," Guy Darrell sings Solomon Burke's "Do the Stupidity" like he means it, and Tommy Bruce's "Over Suzanne" ...
