Cloris Leachman, Cybill Shepherd, Eileen Brennan, Jeff Bridges, Timothy Bottoms, William McNamara - Director: Peter Bogdanovich This sequel to THE LAST PICTURE SHOW rejoins the characters in small-town Texas, many years later into adulthood where everyone's "grown up." Duane has made and lost his fortune in oil; Sonny, the mayor, seems to be drifting from reality; Jacy returns, a film "star," to grieve over her dead son; and Lester is having trouble running the bank and his love life, in this melancholy view of little town blues. The characters reveal the second act of their story in scenes that evoke the changes that had overtaken the nation as well as their private lives. The film stars most of the original cast from the prequel, including Cybill Shepherd, Jeff Bridges, and Cloris Leachman. Director Peter Bogdanovich revisits small-town Texas life in the long-awaited sequel to his 1971 masterpiece THE LAST PICTURE SHOW. It's been over 30 years since Duane Jackson (Jeff Bridges), Sonny Crawford (Timothy Bottoms), and Jacy Farrow (Cybill Shepherd) graduated from high school. Life is still bittersweet as the town prepares to host the county's centennial celebration. Duane struck it rich with oil, but is saddled with $12 million in debt and a shop-a-holic wife, Karla (Annie Potts). To make matters worse, his dysfunctional children are out of control: his teenage son has affairs with older, married women; his daughter is on a continuous carousel of divorces and engagements; and the twins are egg throwing, smart-mouthed adolescents. Duane himself is a local legend with the ladies, but he's completely thrown when Jacy, who's been living abroad, returns to his sleepy hometown to mourn the death of her child. Sonny, meanwhile, has become a local politician and businessman, but is increasingly forgetful and suffers from all too realistic hallucinations. Other cast members reprising their original roles from the first film include Cloris Leachman as Ruth Popper, Eileen Brennan as Genevieve Morgan, and Randy Quaid as Lester Marlow. TEXASVILLE, like its prequel, is based on a Larry McMurtry novel. Theatrical release: September 28, 1990.
Filmed on location in Texas.

Texasville film
$9.79 Director Peter Bogdanovich (MASK, PAPER MOON) brings Larry McMurtry's bittersweet novel of life in a small, sleepy Texas town in the early 1950s to the big screen. This coming-of-age tale, shot in haunting black-and-white by cinematographer Robert Surtees (THE GRADUATE, OKLAHOMA!), focuses on best friends Sonny Crawford (Timothy Bottoms) and Duane Jackson (Jeff Bridges) and their relationships. Duane is dating the beautiful but fickle Jacy Farrow (Cybill Shepherd), a good girl who is looking for a little excitement. Shy Sonny, meanwhile, is carrying on an illicit affair with a coach's wife, Ruth Popper (Cloris Leachman), a sad, plain woman whose only joy appears to be the stolen moments they share. By delving into the intertwining lives of the town's ...

Texasville DVD
$7.05 Robert Altman's brilliant, sprawling masterpiece paints a detailed portrait of the people and music industry of Nashville, Tennessee. Made in 1975, one year before the celebration of the American Bicentennial, the film can also be viewed as a metaphor for the state of American politics and culture of the time. Altman's roaming camera follows a group of disparate individuals as the city prepares for an upcoming political rally for "Replacement" party candidate Hal Philip Walker. They include a ditzy Californian who's visiting her dying aunt and downtrodden uncle, a philandering rock star and his bandmates, a country singer on the verge of a nervous breakdown, a tone-deaf waitress with dreams of superstardom, a mother with two deaf children, and a British journalist who is out to capture the "true" ...

$7.05 Martin Ritt's HUD is an adaptation of Larry McMurtry's novel HORSEMAN, PASS BY, successfully transformed into an entertaining and ambitious contemporary Western. Set on a Texas ranch where Cadillacs, cattle, and transistor radios coexist uneasily, the film stars Paul Newman as the hedonistic, arrogant, and rebellious farmhand Hud Bannon. Hud is constantly at odds with his kind father Homer (Melvyn Douglas), who blames him for the death of his brother. Hud further strains their relationship when he begins taking his nephew out drinking and chasing women. But when it appears that Homer's herd of cattle may have contracted hoof-and-mouth disease, he asks his son's help and advice. Predictably, Homer and Hud disagree about what should be done with the cattle, so Hud tries to gain ownership ...

$14.49 The plot of William March's successful novel was tailor made for Hollywood. Combined with beautiful black-and-white photography and fabulous performances, THE BAD SEED is one of the eeriest films of the 20th century. The scientifically dubious theory behind the title is that an evil disposition can be an inherited trait. Patty McCormack plays Rhoda Penmark, ...
