Long ago, during the first age, an evil spell to bridge our world and the one of darkness was stopped before it could be used. The spell could not be destroyed, so instead, it was broken into six separate parts and scattered about the world. As time passed, all forgot what these marks were for, and mankind dismissed the ancient warnings about these words of power. Then after a millennia, to their dark joy, the spells were rediscovered...As the powerful warrior Rau, you embark on a quests to rid the land of the barbarians and thieves that have come to power in this lawless realm, one that will eventually have him battling to once again stop the spell. Using a unique control system, Rau can take on multiple enemies at once, even when surrounded, and can also take out enemies with a bow, sneak up and kill with silent stealth moves, and use his magical bird Kuzo to scout the land. Mark Of Kri Games Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) AWESOME GAME Mark of kri is not just a game but a story within itself the sheer adrenalin you build up from playing is unstoppable. While I can see this game is game is rated M even the most sqemish person ever would be caught in the never-ending intensity of the game before the gore could get to them. This game is a definite buy even if you think that cutting sombody's head off and throwing there body down on the ground whilst stabbing them with your sword is discusting. Violence Rules! Ever wondered what it was like to be a cold blooded barbarian? To live by the sword in a world of violence? To be an unstoppable force of destruction to your enemies and the sole source of salvation for the innocent in a dark world on the brink of annihilation? Well wonder no longer.
Pick of the controller and step into the role of Rau, a barbarian of massive proportions who's size is rivalled only by his taste for adventure.
The story is simplistic enough; the forces of darkness are rising and it's up to you to stop them. However, the manner in which the story is portrayed is highly stylized and original. Rather than use cut scenes, the story is advanced through still drawings that are completed as a narrator sets the stage of the next chapter.
However, the meat of this action adventure game is the combat. Imagine Metal Gear Solid stealth, mixed with an old school brawler, and Mortal Combat bloody fatalities, all rapped up in a Disney esque animated packaging that is as deceptively violent as it is endearing.
Want to snipe a solder from 100 yards with your bow? Go ahead. Feel like sneeking up behind an unsuspecting enemy and snapping his neck like a twig or impaling him to a wall with your sword? At your pleasure.
Or maybe you just want to fight 9 enemies at once with one of three melee weapons, including a battle ax that can sever limbs, decapitate, and split whole groups of enemies in two in one single strike. The action in this game really has to be seen to be believed.
Top it all off with special challenges in each of the six large levels, and a myriad of unlockable bonuses, and you'll find plenty to do in this game.
The only downside is that with a save anywhere feature and infinite continues it may be too easy for some. The challenge is moderate, but it's nothing that will have you throwing the controller at the screen in frustration. With only six very linear missions the game is also a little brief. The world you are put in is so emersive, and the combat so fun that you just want to stay there, snapping necks and impaling foes on your spear, forever.
Here's hoping we don't have to wait too long for the sequel. Submitted by a reviewer (New York, NY, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
