Masterbeat: Fusion, Vol. 3 music CDs
$7.09 After he's outed at his Midwestern precinct, gay cop John (Jonathan Wade Drahos) heads to Los Angeles to stay with his cousin Tad (Daniel Kucan), a documentary filmmaker chronicling the local gay scene. Naïve and closeted for a little too long, John only needs one little sniff and he's totally sucked into the world of "circuit" parties, drug-fueled gay raves full of steamy sex, thumping disco, steroid-amped bodies, and soap opera-style interpersonal drama. Soon his life is spiraling out of control and it's time to learn some valuable lessons.
Ex-Playgirl centerfold Dirk Shafer directs CIRCUIT from a script he wrote with producer Gregory Hinton. There's lots of drug use, vanity, angst, groping, and softcore sex (bed sheets and shadows mask total full frontal nudity). Kiersten Warren adds some estrogen and humor as John's college pal who has also come to ...

| | Beyonce I Am...Sasha Fierce CD (2008) Bonus Track; Deluxe Edition
Masterbeat: Fusion, Vol. 3 CD music
$9.99 I AM. SASHA FIERCE represents another change of pace for Beyoncé. Unlike the relatively streamlined, retro-soul inflected B'DAY, I AM... is a sprawling two-disc set designed to reflect two conflicting sides of Beyoncé's musical personality. The first disc sports reflective, sometimes moody ballads, while the second, attributed to Beyoncé's brash alter ego, Sasha Fierce, is loaded with propulsive dance-floor fillers. Except for this stylistic divide, I AM. pays only nominal attention to its supposed concept, focusing instead on a set of excellent, radio-ready songs--neatly avoiding the possibility of I AM. becoming some sort ...

This is Atlanta-based singer/songwriter Faith Kleppinger's debut solo album, "Asleep In The Well" --a stripped-down, woozy, late-night drift through softly-sung stories."Asleep" opens on a hazy morning, Kleppinger's ethereal, ...
| | Voafose CD (2006)
Masterbeat: Fusion, Vol. 3 songs
$13.35 The performing name of Jeremy Simmonds, Voafose is a sampling of many years' work on solo electronic pieces covering a wide variety of ground -- something not too far removed from, say, the Aphex Twin's original Selected Ambient Works 85-92, so it's quite appropriate in ways that this collection appears on Rephlex. But there are deeper roots than that since Voafose has worked with Aphex Twin and various fellow travelers, and at its best the album shows the same sense of sprightly curiosity that has come to define much of the label's output. The liner notes call the 20 tracks "ambient solutions and sonic curiosities," which is as good a way to describe this as anything -- perhaps the closest comparison point might actually be the solo work of Steve Fisk, who shares similar obsessions with random sampling and complete reworking of source material into extremely odd shapes. Perhaps appropriately, there's no sense of flowing sequencing from track to track -- calmer, minimal drones slam up against schizoid howls, solo electronic swirls deep in echo immediately follow near-white noise overload. Some moments are definitely ...
