| one the best hip hop albums
I can still remember the exact time and surruondings when i first heard this album. I was sitting in the dark thanks to a power blackout.I had the radio close to my ear coz the sound was low so i could save the batts and for the next hour,I was privy to the most beautiful music.Deep lusciuos basslines(1nce again,stressed out),sparkling gems(K.I.M).And the fact these guys were soo talented in a very humble and down to earth way.They were spiritual(Tip)and cocky(Phife: see do the hop).Sit back and turn the bass up on them headphones.

A tribe called quest on this album, they remove you from "your location" an take you to their "village of a tribe called quest" and you just fit in. Love this album and it still sounds relevant 2012...

| One of the Best Hip-Hop Albums ever recorded.
This is my favorite Quest album. I notice that it's no one elses favorite. I don't follow other's so I stand my ground, this is in my top favorite 3 HH albums. Quest has many great albums and many say Midnight Marauders is there favorite and of course The Low End Theory is claimed as there best. But in my opinion Beats Rhymes and Life is the best, the album title basically says it all.

The thing that separates a tribe called quest from other rappers is their maturity. They aren't talking about killing someone when they really haven't, bling bling,or big booty hoes. They drop knowledge without sounding square. They are needed now more than ever as a change from all the mundane tired self centered boring rappers of today. I can't name not one rapper alive today that is worthwhile and has more than 3 good song on a 20 song cd.IF ONLY tribe had recognized their significant and not get discouraged by nay sayers they possibly would be more well known today.

| A good album
I think I like this album more than some say it deserves because it was the first ATCQ cd I purchased. No this is not as good as Low end theory, but it has some really really great tracks and a few that are not so hot. Q tip is taking the brunt of the load lyrically, and Phife is still talking about how he is a better MC than you on every track, but the overall flow is good. It just doesn't match up to prior albums.
