Underground Radio album
$8.99 The finest example of perfect disco pop, and a record that should be prescribed to musical snobs and manic depressives. The album is a true ambassador of what pop music can be. Jackson whoops and dances through a suite of unforgettable melodies ...
| | Slayer World Painted Blood CD (2009)
Underground Radio CD music
$10.39 Of the "big four" original thrash bands (the other three being Metallica, Anthrax, and Megadeth), Slayer was the least compromising and most consistent. As such, 2009's WORLD PAINTED BLOOD recalled more than the title of Slayer's 1986 ...
| | Katatonia Night Is The New Day CD (2009)
Underground Radio music CDs
$14.04 The latest album from Swedish doom rockers Katatonia, their first studio effort since 2006, is as moody and beautiful as their other latter-day work. The group's career can be marked in two stages based on the condition of singer Jonas Renske's vocal cords -- basically, after the band's first two albums, he developed health problems that prevented him from performing harsh death growls, and ever since the band has moved in an increasingly melodic direction, even covering songs by Will Oldham and Jeff Buckley. It's ...

| | Queen Greatest Hits I, II & III: The Platinum Collection CDs (2001) Box Set
Underground Radio album
$15.39 Recorded between 1974 & 1997. Includes liner notes by Jim Jenkins, Jacky Smith, Andy Davis, Phil Symes.
With Queen officially enshrined in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, Hollywood Records reintroduces the band yet again with the release of GREATEST HITS I, II & III. While Volumes I and II are full of Queen classics you already know by heart, the third cobbles together odds and sods from the far corners of Queen's canon along with solo cuts from Freddie Mercury and Brian May.
Opening with the operatic rock classic "Bohemian Rhapsody," it's easy to hear not only how this British quartet achieved the kind of global acclaim that ensured they'd be enshrined alongside the likes ...

| | Redwalls Universal Blues CD (2003)
Underground Radio songs
$16.45 Chicago's Redwalls are clearly in thrall to classic rock: classic in the '60s sense, that is. Dylan, Neil Young, the Beatles, CCR, the Stones -- anyone who matched impassioned vocals with literate lyrics, and a rough-and-ready, small group rock sound. "Thrall" might be putting it too mildly. It is like classic '60s rock has them hypnotized. When the hypnotist's fingers snap, the band sets to work recreating note perfect imitations of their idols. "Colorful Revolution" is Dylan filtered through Stealers Wheel ("Stuck in the Middle"), of all people, with topically political lyrics (just like they used to have back in the old days); "It's Alright" is CCR fronted by John Lennon; "Speed Racer" is late period Beatles-styled rock 'n' roll, as is their cover of ZZ Top's "Balinese." "It's Love You're On" is mid-period Beatles rock 'n' roll; "I Just Want to Be the One" sounds like an outtake from Highway 61, right down to the organ. There is not an original note on this record. By all rights, it should be terrible. Actually, it is kind of fun. The band wins you over with their enthusiasm, dedication, and ability to craft songs that sound like their heroes' songs, but also sound good too. Besides, the Beatles broke up ages ago; Lennon's ...

| | Polara Jetpack Blues CD (2002)
Underground Radio music CDs
$13.25 The anticipation that greeted Polara in its early days dissolves into a formulaic and, worse, dispirited performance on Jetpack Blues. The sound doesn't vary much; each track feels sleek and streamlined, with massive textural depth. Guitars roar, drums pound, synth pads shimmer, and vocal harmonies float overhead, oddly detached. Yet for all the wattage that this music consumes, passion flickers only occasionally. In fact, its primary reference is stadium rock, the sound that once drove younger ...

| | Greer Painting A Moving Train CD (2008)
Underground Radio album
$15.19 “Helena’s crystal clear, well-crafted harmonies weave themselves around Greg’s smoky-voiced, enigmatic lyrics. They create a sound that you need, and want, to listen to again and again.”- Walter Lee, Coahoma Concert Series, Texas"Helena Nash is a voice to listen for." - Steve Clarke, Acoustic Planet, Erin ON, Canada HELENA NASH 2008/2009 NEWS:Helena Nash has toured across the US and Canada with singer/songwriter and mellifluous vocalist Joe Jencks since 2007. For updated tour dates visit www.myspace.com/helenanash or www.helenanash.com.GREG GREER 2008/2009 NEWS:Greg Greer currently resides in Denver, Colorado, where his fingers are still deepening the grooves in his Gretsch jumbo body guitar, and his original song catalogue has grown to over 100.About HELENA NASH & GREG GREER "Painting A Moving Train":Pour a voice like Eva Cassidy and the soulful delivery of Martin Sexton and mix with equal parts Bonnie Raitt, Lyle Lovett and the Carter Family, and you begin to taste the sound of Helena Nash & Greg Greer. The duo draws from a deep well of engaging and insightful originals, their soulful harmonies bursting with life. Theirs is a shape-shifting dance of joy, loss, healing, laughter, love and occasional socio-political commentary as they relate to themselves and their fellow humans.RIDING THE YELLOW LINESAs of 2007 Helena Nash & Greg Greer are no longer touring regularly as a duo. Prior to that, the pair traveled in their vintage 1983 silver and blue coach tour bus, affectionately named Gracie. The couple’s magical meeting place in 2003 was the Underground Wonder Bar in their hometown Chicago, and only a few months later they took up the Willie Nelson theory of touring and hit the road year 'round. The highways and byways east of the Mississippi know Gracie’s tire treads well, but she’s a Texas gal, and she always seemed to point home to the Lone Star State, carrying the duo’s music along with her.IN CONCERTIn their live shows, Greg’s rhythmic picking and strumming patterns create an energetic accompaniment to the intense harmonies of the voices. The lyrics tell stories with insight and compassion as the music flows effortlessly through folk, country and blues with touches of gospel, jazz and world music. “TURN,” the BUTTERFLY SKY debut album (www.cdbaby.com/butterflysky), reflects the duo’s live sound.HELENA NASHHelena Nash has emerged as one of the finest harmony singers on the acoustic folk stage today. Her evocative lead voice and shimmering harmonies create a soulful, modern sound with an ancient backbone. ...
