| | Amy Fairchild Mr. Heart CD Amy Fairchild Discography of CDs
With the 2002 release of her CD Mr. Heart, Amy Fairchild has come into her own. Critical acclaim gathered fast for this self-released effort. According to Steve Morse of the Boston Globe, Fairchild is "...on the verge of big things." In the words of rock critic Dave Marsh, "If there still was a recording industry, this would come out on a major label...and would be such a big hit that you'd be sick of her by now. Not many people make records this good". Album Network says, "Reminiscent of Sheryl Crow, Fairchild effortlessly delivers natural lyrics and organic vocals while her band keeps it rocking. This stuff is really cool." Seth Rogovoy, in the Dec 6th Berkshire Eagle picked Mr. Heart as one of his top 10 CD Releases for 2002. "Falling Down" from Mr. Heart won Grand Prize in the Pop Category of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, and was then named the $20,000.00 - Maxell Song of the Year, and In 2003, "Renee" took an unprecedented second straight Grand Prize in that contest's Pop Category, announced on 1/15/04 and in 2004, Mr. Heart (the song) was a finalist in the Folk Category. "Tuesday" a song about Sept 11th won Grand Prize in the Billboard Songwriting Competition in the Country/Folk Category in 2002 and "Renee" took 2nd Place in the Pop Category in 2003. Song placements include "Humble Pie", which was used in an episode of Dawson's Creek and "Beautiful Secret", placed in the national touring company production of Spiderman Live (the show played in 45 major US markets). "Beautiful Secret" was also used in CBS's new hit Joan of Arcadia. Amy was nominated for two 2003 Boston Music Awards, Best Female Vocalist and Best Female Singer/Songwriter. Fairchild's musical career began in Northampton, MA with the release of her first CD "She's Not Herself" which was voted "Album of the Year" by several local papers. She moved to New York City in 1998 and immediately began performing and filling clubs throughout the city. In May of 2001, she won the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Songwriting Competition, joining a list of winners that includes Lyle Lovett, Steve Earle, Nanci Griffith and Shawn Colvin. She was also the NYC 1999 Lilith Fair Talent Search Winner, and performed at the Jones Beach stop of the tour. In addition to the Lilith Fair headliners, she has shared the stage with such diverse artists as Pat Benatar, The Bacon Brothers, Freedy Johnston, Ben Folds, Joan Osborne and Ellis Paul. Sensitive introspection, a sharp melodic radar, rock and roll's rebellious energy, and an intuitive feel for the understated power of an acoustic guitar and a good lyric all inform her music and distinguish Amy as a dynamic performer. The Berkshire Eagle also picked her performance at Club Helsinki in Gt. Barrington as one of the Top 10 Concerts in 2002 saying "Fairchild combines the literate intimacy of a new-folk singer-songwriter, the unerring pop-rock instincts of a Sheryl Crow, and the moves of a rock goddess." (others on the list included Springsteen, McCartney, Dylan and James Taylor with the Boston Pops!)Mr Heart was produced by Boston's multi-instrumentalist/producer Adam Steinberg (Patty Griffith, Dixie Chicks, Todd Thibaud) and features Graham Maby (Joe Jackson, Natalie Merchant) and Sebastian Steinberg (Soul Coughing, Neil Finn) on bass, Gary Burke (Joe Jackson, Bob Dylan) on drums and Steinberg on electric guitar, keyboards and more. She continues to play out live both solo and with a band (including legendary drummer Dave Mattacks) to support Mr. Heart. A live cd, Amy Fairchild Live was released on February 10th, 2004 and a brand new studio cd is in the works slated for release in the fall of 2005. Mr. Heart album
$14.45 After the dark and chilling themes of 2006's BLACK CADILLAC, which saw Rosanne Cash dealing with the deaths of her mother, Vivian Liberto, her father, Johnny Cash, and her stepmother, June Carter Cash -- all of whom passed within a two-year span -- one might assume that her next project would move into an even deeper level of bleakness, but with THE LIST, it's immediately clear that she has instead found a more measured place to stand. It's a lovely and redemptive outing that looks back to go forward. When Cash turned 18, her father, alarmed that his daughter only knew the songs that were getting played ...

$12.15 Nowhere Slow is a Northeastern PA based band. All four members hail from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Area. The band's current lineup was completed in November of 2002. Nowhere Slow was formed several years ago by cousins Rick Gillette(lead vocals) and Jeff Hertzog(drums). Another family member, Dan Dobitsch, played bass for the group before moving to Delaware. Dan currently remains vital to the band as a technical advisor. After Dan's departure, Joe Spinelli stepped in as the band's bassist, bringing along musician, Frank Sartorio, who became the group's lead guitarist. Nowhere Slow played shows around the Scranton area and the Poconos, where they caught the attention of producer Nick Soviero. In the spring of 2001, guitarist Jim Alba began to sit in with the group during certain shows, although he was not yet a permanent member of the group's lineup. Alba's guitar style immediately connected with Gillette's, and by the fall of 2001, Alba was a full-time member of the band. In December, 2001, Frank Sartorio left the group due to creative differences, and Nowhere Slow's current lineup was solidified. The band started recording at Nick Soviero's Pocono Academy of Music in the spring of 2002. Currently, Nowhere Slow is touring to support the album. Upon the album's release, Nowhere Slow was contacted by an agent from New York City, and they will be playing shows at various clubs in the City throughout the upcoming year. All information regarding dates is available via the band's mailing list. Anyone can join the mailing list by sending an email to the address listed inside the album cover. Also, the group is anxious to return to the studio to begin work on their second album, though there ...

$16.45 The Oxygen Ponies are primarily the vehicle of singer/songwriter Paul Megna, an enigmatic, unpredicatble performer of rare emotional intensity. Band membership changes from album to album, with Megna - who writes, composes and sings all of the band's material - being the only constant member. Like Leonard Cohen, Nick Drake, Elliott Smith and other poets of despair, Megna's autobiographical songs are reflections on a life well-lived; melodic discourses interweaving man's struggle vs. society and man's struggle ...
