Harlem Lament album for sale by Earl Hines was released May 09, 1989 on the Portrait label. This excellent LP (which unaccountably leaves out the recording dates of its 16 selections) features the best recordings by Earl Hines's Orchestra during 1932-34 (prior to signing with Decca) and 1937-38. Highlights include the initial version of "Rosetta," asuch Jimmy Mundy charts as "Cavernism" and "Madhouse," a small-group romp on "Honeysuckle Rose" and early examples of Ray Nance's trumpet on the later tracks.
