What began initially as a project by NIN alumnus Richard Patrick has developed into a real band. Formerly the sole composer, Patrick opened himself to collaborating with his bandmates on 1999's breakthrough, TITLE OF RECORD and the overwhelming response paved the way for a true band effort here. Guitarist Geno Lenardo adds dimensions and texture to Patrick's solid foundation, and the result is Filter hitting its creative stride with THE AMALGAMUT.
As the title suggests, this musical mixture boasts impeccable production values (the walls of staggering, layered guitars and pristine drum sounds are to die for). "My Long Walk To Jail" boasts grisly chromatic riffing while "So I Quit" burns with punky verses. Built within Filter's industrial flavored aggro-metal are enough sucker-punch hooks ("Where Do We Go From Here" and "Columind") and power ballad pomp ("The Missing" and "God Damn Me ") to make their contemporaries take notice. A special treat for hardcore Filter fans, enhanced features of THE AMALGAMUT include a companion film, "Plague Of A Thousand Deceptions" (which ties in with the album concept), as well as internet links to exclusive live downloads and behind-the-scenes footage of the band's creative process.
2002 release, this CD is enhanced with the 'Where Do We Go From Here' video along with the short film 'Plague of a Thousand Deceptions'. Featured tracks include 'Where Do We Go From Here', 'American Cliche' and 'The Only Way' (Is The Wrong Way).

Amalgamut Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews The best Filter Get this CD and you'll hear a great band and their best CD. Although many years after they first got sarted, Amalgamut beats out their other albums and shows Filter in their prime. One of my all-time favorite rock songs of the 21st century, American Cliche, contains possibly the best chorus in modern hard rock. I hate people saying this is a bad album. Yes, there are quite a few duds (about 35% of the disk) but overall, this is some good stuff. Submitted by Brock (Danville, C) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Great album. Not the Filter you're used to, but still good. In a pool of similar clones, Filter continues their tradition of breaking away from the monotonous norm. This album is not what old school Filter fans are used to, but they still have a couple songs in there to remain loyal to longtime fans. "American Cliche" will show you that they still got it, while "The Only Way" proves that the band is ready to take some risks. There is a good variety of songs on this album. I think just about anyone with a taste for rock will really enjoy album. Submitted by gscott (Portland, OR, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
This record can never be the same like Title of Record... ...impacted on this earth. It only released Where do we go from here? on radio. American Cliche bombed. What happened? The impact on songs. Richie's writin up a new batch soon for a new record. So beware, better watch for it. Submitted by skank992002 (Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
in a large number of rock cds in 2002, this one stands out "you walk away", the 1st track, will absolutely rock you with the catchy guitar riffs and explosive bass, as well as harmonic vocals. filter has a way on this cd of bringing the pressure and tension up and creating a weight of energy that just gets bigger and bigger and never overflows, which is shown in such tracks as "my long walk to jail" and "so i quit", and the best song here, the beautiful masterpiece "the missing". "it can never be the same" leads the album to end like a revelation towards the 1st cd, that staticky, electronic, chilling hollow sound which is down as classic on short bus. the following two tracks seem like fillers, but 2 minutes in, you're hooked. and that doesn't sound like a filler to me. If you're missing a dose of Nine Inch Nails lately, you don't have to look further than this release for an excellent variation on Reznor's theme. Filter, who record using a mobile studio, are a two-man outfit (with a few helpful friends) who specialize in crunching guitar noise walls and filtered ...

$6.85 Filter's 1995 debut Short Bus broke through at the exact moment when Nine Inch Nails soundalikes began dominating the modern rock charts. Filter had more credit to their sound than any of their peers -- their leader Richard Patrick had played in the touring incarnation of NIN. Nevertheless, many critics had written the band off as one-hit wonders with the crossover ...

Containing both of the Wailers' first two albums on Etiquette (1961's The Fabulous Wailers at the Castle and 1964's The Wailers and Co.), this is a good summary of the group's early-'60s recordings, particularly as it adds half a dozen bonus tracks from 1961-1964 singles. The live At the Castle album is a historically important document of the early-'60s Northwest sound, spotlighting a white band that could play tough rock & roll with a heavy R&B influence. Mixing hard-driving percussion with guitars, sax, and organ, it was divided between instrumentals (including a version of the 1959 hit "Tall Cool One") and numbers with vocals by Kent Morrill, Rockin' Robin Roberts (who had sung lead on the Wailers' 1961 "Louie Louie" single), and young teenage girl Gail Harris. This doesn't mean, mind you, that the music's that great. In fact, the songs are too repetitive to hold up as well for record listeners as they must have for dancers at their shows. When Harris takes the mic for covers of Etta James' "All I Could Do Was Cry" and ...
