Camp Firewood. 1981. And things are happening. Camp director Beth is falling in love with Henry, an astrophysicist who is trying to save the camp from being hit by a piece of Skylab hurtling toward Earth, while camp counselor Coop is pining for Katie, who is in love with lifeguard Andy. If that's not enough, there's a waterfall rescue, talking vegetables cans, the misfits, the cool kids and more! Summer camp was never this much fun! The staff members of Camp Firewood, feeling that they have squandered the summer of 1981, are determined to make their last day together count. Crunchy counselor Beth (Jeaneane Garofolo) finds an unexpected love interest in shy, neighboring astrophysicist Neuman (David Hyde Pierce), who is busy tracking an errant piece of Skylab. Elsewhere, everyman Coop (Michael Showalter) pursues longtime crush Katie (Marguerite Monroe), despite her ignoramus boyfriend, Andy (Paul Rudd). Uptight Susie (Amy Poehler) is determined to stage a talent show that will rival the average Broadway production, while divorced arts and crafts instructor Gail (Molly Shannon) seeks love advice from 12-year-old campers. While several counselors make a pilgrimage to a crack house, virginal Gary has an unexpected sexual awakening, and Vietnam veteran cook Gene finds a guiding light in a can of green beans and erotic fulfillment in the refrigerator.
Conceived by Michael Showalter and David Wain, members of comedy troupe THE STATE, WET HOT AMERICAN summer pays tribute to the teen films of the 1970s and early 1980s, most notably the Bill Murray summer camp classic MEATBALLS, with a straight face and an anything-goes brand of comedy. Mixing and matching from a checklist of youth film clichés and turning them into sight gags that often defy time and space, Showalter and Wain have crafted a film that manages to be a consistently funny tribute to the genres it lampoons. Theatrical Release: July 27, 2001 (LIMITED) Wet Hot American Summer Reviews: "...Wain and Showalter deserve camp kudos for getting the details right..."-- Peter Travers, Rolling Stone "...WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER is generous in its comic opportunities..."
-- A. O. Scott, New York Times "...A delectable parody....Hilariously sly....Showalter gives an inspired performance....[A} gleeful and ingenious pop satire..."

Wet Hot American Summer Video Wet Hot American Summer Movie Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) Worst Camp Movie EVER!!! Buy the movie "Meatballs" with Bill Murray. If you want camp laughs or even The Addams family where the Kids go to camp.
This is very very disapointing and laugh-less film.

if you're into dry relatable humor... Hell cop this!!! THIS MOVIE IS SICK!!! Stella is way too out of the loop (my opinion) but this movie has moments of brilliant hilarity Great cast that knows exactly what the director was looking for... that dude from OZ is the sh*t... plus the can of fruit is a main player in the film... Better than you'd expect I renewed my interest in this film after reading that the team behind Comedy Central's sketch comedy show "Stella" did this film. I think the humor is sly and the satire subtle. Usually in a film of this genre the opposite is true in both cases. Nice comic acting too by the principals and co-stars too. This is the funniest/stupidest movie ever... EVER There are some well-known actors and a bunch of not-so-well-known actors in this movie. Nonetheless, they all make some of the best performances ever seen in a comedy. From the actors to the plot to the shear, unbriddled idiocy, Wet Hot American Summer comes together in a way that can never possibly be forgotten. I'm almost offended that this movie isn't more popular. It is definitely a buried treasure. The feature itself isn't all that makes this DVD great. The special features are multitudinous and there's even more hilarity in the "deleted scenes" and "behind the scenes". This is most certainly a comedy collectors dream. $7.89 Matty (Barry Pepper) is the only son of Brooklyn mobster Benny "the Chains" (Dennis Hopper). Considered too sensitive for mob work, but unable to find a regular job, Matty finally gets a chance to join his dad's organization when he agrees to arrange transport of half a million dollars across the country. When it winds up lost in a small Montana town, Matty and his assortment of tough-guy pals (played by Andrew Davoli, Seth Green, and Vin Diesel) are forced to fly out there, tangle with the locals, and find the money before their disappointed elders come to get them, guns blazing.

$9.79 In Andy Tennant's (SWEET HOME ALABAMA, ANNA AND THE KING) delightful romantic comedy HITCH, Will Smith stars as Alex Hitchens, an urban "date doctor" who helps the common man woo the woman of his dreams. Hitch will use any means necessary--dance lessons, back waxing--to instill romantic confidence in his clientele. Why? He was once a lonely wallflower himself, who learned about love and heartbreak the hard way. His latest project, Albert Brennaman (Kevin James), may be his most difficult. Brennaman, a junior accountant prone to clumsiness, has fallen head-over-heels for one of his clients, Allegra Cole (Amber Valleta), a well-known celebrity. To complicate things further, Hitch's dating dogma is shaken when he meets and falls for a beautiful gossip columnist, Sara Melas (Eva Mendes), whose sharp wit easily pierces his cool façade. Conflict arises when Melas uncovers Hitch's true profession and blames him for ...

$7.89 Director Martin Scorsese returns to his trademark style with the violent, bruised, and bloody feature THE DEPARTED. Scorsese filched the basic storyline from Wai Keung Lau and Siu Fai Mak's masterful 2002 Hong Kong action film, INFERNAL AFFAIRS, which saw a policeman going undercover as a mob member and a mob member infiltrating the police force. Scorsese transfers the action to Boston, positioning Leonardo Di Caprio as undercover cop William Costigan and Matt Damon as undercover mobster Colin Sullivan. While Costigan and Sullivan get into plenty of nail-biting ...
