| | Satoshi Tomiie Global Underground: Nubreed CD Satoshi Tomiie Discography of CDs
(5 Customer Reviews)
This is a continuous in-the-mix CD compiled and mixed by Satoshi Tomiie.
For his first Global Underground mix, Satoshi Tomiie goes with the club-orientated progressive house style associated with the popular series of DJ mix albums. Over the course of two discs he drops two dozen or so lengthy tracks with huge bottom ends and an emphasis on dark, trippy melodies every now and then. He structures the two discs similarly, building toward an intense peak or two halfway through each of the two discs before slowing the music down a bit before finishing with standout vocal tracks, namely Kings of Tomorrow's "I Want You (For Myself)" and Max Graham's "Tell You." For the most part, Tomiie sticks with progressive house, dipping occasionally into some breaks but almost never into trance. He also sticks with the leading progressive house labels of the moment -- Yoshitoshi, Bedrock, SAW, Forensic -- and other house labels like Choo Choo and Twisted that traditionally offer a less progressive style of house. Overall, Tomiie approaches his first Global Underground: Nubreed mix appropriately. He crafts a mix very representative of the series during the early 2000s, meaning of course that he isn't afraid to drop the big records at the right moments. Because Tomiie does precisely this, his contribution to the long-running series is just as good as any. ~ Jason Birchmeier

Satoshi Tomiie Global Underground: Nubreed Songs Global Underground: Nubreed Music Review Average Rating: (4.6 out of 5 stars) Hook from the first track Having been a big fan of global undergrounds compilations for a few years now I've never been dissapointed, but i have to say i was blown away. Now i know what all the buzz is about Tomiie. Tantric beats resonate with surgically selected vocals and mixing.. A must have for and Dance music fan Submitted by dg3_oracle (Jersey City, NJ, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A Favorite of the Nubreed Series I got this last year during the Spring Semester. Before hand, I heard it was not that hot from a couple of people. I saw some old school stuff. I was wrong after listening to it, even with Greed's track on the second disc, Strange World. A lot of dark, but good stuff happening. Space music (like Digweed) and singing; some emotional tracks. A favorite I am sure among all people! Maybe he'll do something like this after his Renaissance 3D release.

Dark Underground Mix I cannot stop listening to this cd! It gives you a feel of a dark underground club or rave. It has a slow tempo but great trance effects on it. I heard tomiie for the first time on xm and had to get one of his cd's. This is a great cd for those you dont like hardcore beats aka "hard house or hard trance".
