(7 Customer Reviews)
A wizard, and a true guitar star, Joe Bonamassa was bending an axe's six strings before he could legally drive. Inspired by classic blues aces Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, and B.B. King, Bonmassa yearned to tell stories sad but true on the guitar. Released in 2002, SO, IT'S LIKE THAT is his second disc, and it provides hints of the heights he'd later hit. Bonamassa is at his best when stretching out, and he doesn't get to do that quite enough here. Still, THAT is good for Bonamassa fans who can't get enough, and mainstream rock fans looking to get their feet wet in the blues.
Producers: Clif Magness, Dave Bassett, Matt Chiaravalle.
Joe Bonamassa So, It's Like That Songs So, It's Like That Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews BLUES YOU MUST HAVE Joe's newest disc again showcases his superior playing and songwriting abilities. Although only 3 tunes on the disc were written (or co-wrote) by Joe, the disc is what I believe a tribute to the blues greats, who are Joe's greatest influences. John Lee Hooker's BURNING HELL (trk 2), Buddy Guy's MAN OF MANY WORDS (trk 4) and Elmore James' WILD ABOUT YOU BABY (trk 7) are but a few of the highlights of the classics covered by Joe. Joe's originals are no step down either. No disappointments on the disc. A must-have for blues purists and guitar playing fans. If you haven't heard Joe before, this disc will inspire you to get his previous releases also. Submitted by summers1 (Amboy,IL USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
More Pop than Blues Has great potential to Jam the Blues as he did in the CD Blues deluxe This disc more of a Pop Rock sound Submitted by a reviewer (Oconomowoc, WI, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Hard Rock Blues at its finest! Whether searing vocals on the hard driving rock tracks or the Passionate ballad, Joe's vocals hit there mark every time.
Not just the same old cliched guitar licks, Joe brings a fresh sound to this crowded genre. Obviosly influenced by Stevie Ray Vaugn, Joe is among the masters of his craft. Submitted by a reviewer (Atlanta GA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Penetrating, Satisfying, Intense....Good It's funny, but the songs I like the least on this album are the ones that are most compositionally blues based. In comparison to the blues rock grooves with their mean hooks or the country/southern style songs delivered with simplistic elegance, the blues songs just seem so bland.
It's ironic, I'm a big fan of the blues and a big fan of Joe Bonamassa. I just like his music better when he gets further away from blues. Joe wasn't very happy with this album, but I sure am. Submitted by Nate (Henderson, NV, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

So, It's Like That songs
$10.15 Let's see, a debut album on a respected but still second-tier label by a new generation bluesman from that fabled blues center of Scranton, Pennsylvania? Tell me that don't have journeyman and formula written all over it. But the nature of the beast that is Clarence Spady's debut album is that while you can't really zoom in on any one element that makes it work, the music moves and grooves and most definitely works.
Spady is a good singer with a raspy growl that falls close to Johnny Copeland ...

$15.89 Gary Tomlinson has been a musician and singer since childhood. His roots are firmly planted in the rich gospel music of the Southern Baptist Churches he grew up in. He further developed his love for music as a drummer in Jr. / Sr. High school. At the age of eighteen, Gary's experiences took a turn away from God and the church. He joined a prominent Rock & Roll band and travelled on the road for the next several ...

So, It's Like That songs
$17.05 Such is the wealth of Phil Spector soundalike productions from the 1960s, and such is Ace Records' industriousness in licensing a wide variety of them for the Phil's Spectre series, that there's no decline in either the quality or range of material selected for this third volume. The 26 tracks include actual hit singles (Lesley Gore's "Look of Love," Martha & the Vandellas' "In My Lonely Room") and a whole bunch ...
