Forget PET SOUNDS worshippers like Eric Matthews and the High Llamas, history will show that instead it's guys like DJ Sammy who are the real inheritors of the Beach Boys mantle. Remember that back in the '60s, it was John and Jane Doe, not just the hipsters, who got down to Brian Wilson's summer-fun sound. And in 2002 it's those jocks and jockettes on the beach who are tossing the volleyball around to the sunny sounds of HEAVEN, which in turn draws on '60s California pop (the Mamas and the Papa's "California Dreamin'") as well as more contemporary fare (Bryan Adams's pop hit "Heaven," Don Henley's signature tune "Boys of Summer"). All the songs are redone with a prominent dance beat, hook-laden synthesizers, and a chirpy female singer for maximum summertime get-down factor. You can almost smell the sunblock; it's just the way Brian would want it.

4 stars DJ Sammy ROCKS!!
If you like those funky dance club beats, then this CD is awesome! I loved "Heaven" song (the dance one and the slow one) Awesome reamke! And he also has a great remake of California Dreamin'. All the tracks sound similar because they all have the dance club sound. But its the type of CD you can pop in when you are working out, running, or just cleaning the house. The beats get you pumped up!!

3 stars Good intro to trance cd
Features some very poppy upbeat and up tempo songs including the popular heaven and sunlight. By far the best song on the album is Vive el presente. This song has a driving electronic beat and has one of the best peaks and finishes to a song I have ever heard. If you want true trance buy an ATB or oakenfold cd, but if you want a more poppy kind of feel with some good songs and dance beats then this is a grerat purchase.

Enigma LSD: Love Sensuality Devotion, The Greatest Hits CD  (2001)

Heaven
CD $11.45  4.7 stars Top 500 Audio Samples Definitive Album
Among the many artists that helped inject a pan-global flavor into American pop music is Enigma (A.K.A. Michael Cretu), a German artist who brought the sound of chanting Gregorian monks to the charts with "Sadeness (Part I)," a breakout smash from Enigma's 1990 debut MCMXC a.d. The collection LOVESENSUALITYDEVOTION rounds out the rest of the '90s for Enigma with plenty of undulating rhythms and world music hybrids. Dance beats are strung throughout this compilation and pop up on everything from the high-flying ambiance of "T.N.T. For The Brain" to the industrial clang of "Push the Limits" and ...

Yes We Can Can - The Best Of The Blue Thumb Recordings
Pointer Sisters Yes We Can Can - The Best Of The Blue Thumb Recordings CD  (1997)

Heaven
CD $6.49  5 stars Audio Samples Definitive Album
Prior to Hip-O Select reissuing the bulk of the Pointer Sisters' early-'70s long-players on CD, Yes We Can Can: The Best of the Blue Thumb Recordings (1997) was the only comprehensive anthology of their five-album/four-year stint on the eclectic ABC Records subsidiary Blue Thumb. It was during this era that the Pointer Sisters -- Anita, Bonnie, June, and Ruth -- documented some of their most challenging, diverse, and exemplary material, leaving their eponymous 1973 debut as well as the studio LPs That's A Plenty (1974), Steppin' (1975), and Having a Party (1977) as copious evidence of their talents. Right from the start, these soulful siblings were a reckoning force. Their combination of uptown funk grooves, bebop jazz, blues, and even country nuances helped to establish the quartet, as did the Sisters' inimitable vocal blend and drop-dead accurate ...

20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection: The Best Of Motown 1980'S Vol. 2 CD  (2002)

CD $6.95  4 stars Audio Samples
Recorded between 1979 & 1987. Includes liner notes by Stu Hackel. As the title suggests, 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: Motown 1980s, Vol. 2 gathers a dozen more '80s hits from Motown artists, including DeBarge, Billy Preston, and the Boys. While the collection contains several good singles, it also reveals how scattered Motown's output was at the time: ranging from Rick James' sleek funk classic "Super Freak" to Smokey Robinson's lighter-than-air "Just to See Her" to Diana Ross' sweeping, orchestral "It's My Turn" -- with quirky detours like Bruce Willis' "Respect Yourself" besides -- the compilation shows that, unlike ...

Sly & The Family Stone Anthology CD  (1981)

Heaven
CD $27.29
Sylvester Stewart, AKA Sly Stone, was a singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist who fused R&B with rock and roll when Prince was still in purple satin diapers. With the Family Stone, he created a complex, energetic brand of soul/rock that had a profound impact on both musical worlds. Stewart was one of the first pop artists to directly address racial issues (in songs like "Don't Call Me Nigger, Whitey"). Reaching out to people of all races, he also penned one of the funkiest, ...
Fairytale
Donovan Fairytale CD  (1965) (Import) DualDisc

Heaven
CD $16.89
Originally released on Hickory (127). Includes original release liner notes by Ren Grevatt. FAIRYTALE is a reissue of Donovan's second album from 1965 and includes the UNIVERSAL SOLDIER EP and two non-album B-sides. Sequel Records' followup to their CATCH THE WIND compilation, FAIRYTALE documents the era where Donovan Leitch was slowly turning from earnest folkie to pop oddball, though here he's still much more the former than the latter. Buffy Sainte Marie's "Universal Soldier" and his own "Colours," both heard here in two different versions, set the tone early on, but later in songs like "Sunny ...
Scalawag
Noel Miller Scalawag CD  (2007)

Heaven
CD $9.29
Noel started learning about music from his father who played rock bass, guitar and sang for many years on the club circuit of the New Jersey shore and Philadelphia. Mark Miller was an inspiration that lit the spark for a journey that has taken Noel to the west coast and eventually Denver Colorado. Princeton High school was where it all began as a fifteen year old guitar player learned about jazz and rock from some of the most skilled teachers of the east coast. Surrounded by the likes of John Popper, Chad Kinchla (Blues Traveler) and Chris Baron (Spin Doctors) Noel had an opportunity to immerse himself in some of the best young talent of the late eighties. Dr. Biancasino was a former college professor of Indiana State University who headed the PHS music department and he took the jazz band (which included Noel) all the way to Berklee College of Music in Boston to take 1st in a regional competition. Joe Federico, a jazz guitarist with numerous album credits gave Noel private guitar lessons when he was young and later he studied voice under Don Lawrence who taught the likes of Bono, Jon Bon Jovi, Sebastian Bach, (Skid Row), Mike Tramp (White Lion), and now Christina Aguilera. Noel opened for Bang Tango, Mr Reality, Blind Melon, Law and Order, and many other bands that were popular on the east coast in the early nineties and performed in front of audiences that numbered several thousand at times and fewer than one hundred at others. Studio One, Fastlane, Stone Pony, Birch Hill, Red Spot, Cricket Club, Club Bene, Playpen were among some of the better know clubs Noel played in various bands throughout the early nineties on the east coast. With a solid music education he left for the west and focused on his songwriting skills to eventually get regular rotation in 1993 for his song “Blind Eyes” on the SUU college radio station KSUU. After Utah it was on to Los Angeles where Noel recorded “Think A Head” in 1995 featuring a skilled team of excellent musicians, among them Tony Mazza who has played for numerous artists live (The Daz Band) and went on to record with Christina Aguilera (RCA), and Ja Rule (Def Jam). Noel has since played the Palace Station Casino, openers for “The Tubes” in front of an audience of several thousand at the Tropicana in Las Vegas, “April Wine” in the Sam Boyd stadium, and a fourth of July celebration in front of the Stratosphere Hotel Casino on the Las Vegas strip. Most of his time in Denver has been spent in the studio and the second release “Scalawag” was recorded in Las Vegas and Los Angeles (2000)featuring Mark Molloy on Drums and Ritchie Eddings on bass. “Raise the Sails” came a year later in Denver with the help of local musicians Aaron ...
