| Awful Robin Williams and Edward Norton are wasted away in this dark comedy that struggles to make you laugh. By Blake (Brandon,MS) This review is for a different format. |
| "Smoochy" Is A Black Comedy Classic! Death To Smoochy movie Many have dismissed this movie as obscene and unfunny. Death To Smoochy video True, it is a pitch black comedy about a deranged ex-kiddie TV show host planning to rub out his replacement, but the cast and writing are top-notch! If you enjoy dark humor and biting sarcasm, you'll love this movie! Brilliant performances by Robin Williams, Catherine Keener, and Edward Norton (compared to "Fight Club," this may come off as more light comedy). There is much humor to be found in the parodying of children's television and the manufactured style of it all. I have to say that I've been watching this movie regularly for a year now and it only gets better with every viewing! Fun music, big laughs, and a big purple rhino all make for a complete comic blast! Even my parents liked it! Hey, Warner Bros., where's the soundtrack?! | Interesting previews don't guarantee a good movie Death To Smoochy film Ever since watching "American History X", Edward Norton has been my favorite actor. Death To Smoochy review He did a superb job in "Fight Club", as well as "Primal Fear" and "Rounders" After seeing the previews for "Smoochy", I thought it looked like an original, intelligent, and perhaps funny movie. It was none of the three. While I believe the premise of the movie is good--a profane, evil, former kiddie show host tries to derail his replacement--the writing was terrible, the acting was mediocre at best (with the exception of Catherine Keener's part), and had but one funny moment in it (which can also be disputed). It was when Randolph (Williams) runs out into the live kids show broadcast, and tells Smoochy that the cookie Smoochy's holding is deliberately shaped like a penis. Then goes off, in a George Carlin-like way, giving several synonyms for the word, which you may find funny. That is, unless you despise Williams's as a comedic actor. Overall, the movie was an extreme disappointment, for having Norton in it. By manchild500 (Camp Hill, PA, USA) This review is for a different format. |
| Funniest movie ever! Death To Smoochy is the funniest movie I've ever seen. Robin Williams truly shows that he has mastered comedy. The characters are very funny, the actors have great chemistry with each other. It might not be drama, or action, but you will laugh so much from Robin Williams. This is not a bad movie, it is what adult comedy is all about. By a reviewer (Austin, Texas) This review is for a different format. |
