Black & White; Standard Screen; Soundtrack English Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson once again set out to foil the nefarious Moriarty -- and save humanity in the process. This time they have to prevent a Swiss-made bomb from falling into the hands of the Gestapo. Unfortunately, Moriarty has captured the inventor... and will slowly bleed him to death, unless he reveals the secret behind his handiwork. The secret weapon is a new bombsight which could hasten the outcome of World War II, and both the Allies and the Nazis are in a desperate race to secure it for themselves. Super sleuth Sherlock Holmes (Basil Rathbone) and his trusty assistant Dr. Watson (Nigel Bruce) are assigned to find the kidnapped scientist who developed the secret weapon, only to be foiled by Holmes' nemesis, the evil Professor Moriarty (Lionel Atwill). Based on the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle story THE ADVENTURE OF THE DANCING MEN, this Holmes case transplants the Victorian sleuth into the realm of WWII espionage and is also the first of the films to introduce Dennis Hoey as Scotland Yard detective Inspector Lestrade. Sherlock Holmes And The Secret Weapon Reviews: "[SECRET WEAPON] marks the arrival of Roy William Neill, the economical stylist who directed the ten remaining pictures."

Sherlock Holmes And The Secret Weapon video
$11.29 Perhaps the most memorable film about the aftermath of World War II, THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES unfolds with the homecoming of three veterans to the same small town. The leads all touch emotional truths: Myrna Loy seems able to express longing, joy, fear and surprise--mostly with her back turned--in a particularly poignant welcome home. The movie never glosses over the reality of altered lives and the inability to communicate the experience ...

Sherlock Holmes And The Secret Weapon movie DVD
$14.49 With its focus on character flaws instead of plot devices, LITTLE CAESAR is the mother of the modern gangster flick. Edward G. Robinson stars as Enrico Bandelli in the role that made him a household name. Bandelli moves to the big city with partner in crime Joe Massara (Douglas Fairbanks Jr.) and becomes a member of Sam Vettori's Mafia gang. In spite of the urgings of pretty girl Olga Strassoff (Glenda Farell) to quit the mob, Rico quickly becomes the head of the Vettori gang and with a couple of quick kills scares mob boss Arnie Lorch back to Detroit. Bandelli, dubbed Little Caesar by the press, is known as a boss in his own right, but what goes up must come down in this tale of excessive hubris. At the time of its release, the ...

$22.59 Michael J. Fox catapulted into superstardom--and created one of the most beloved television characters of all time--in the 1980s sitcom FAMILY TIES. Created by TV impresario Gary David Goldberg (LOU GRANT, THE BOB NEWHART SHOW), the series offered a clever take on the generation gap through the family interactions of two former '60s hippies, public-television producer Steven Keaton (Michael Gross) and his architect wife, Elyse (Meredith Baxter), struggling to retain their ...

Sherlock Holmes And The Secret Weapon video
$16.55 In the early 1990s, the children's cable network Nickelodeon produced a spate of television series that were funny, smart, and never pandered to--or insulted the intelligence of--its predominantly pre-teen audience. Originating as series of shorts that aired during commercial breaks and then expanded to a full-length show, THE ADVENTURES OF PETE AND PETE was one of Nick's most imaginative outings. The offbeat series chronicled the suburban adolescence of two redheaded brothers with the same name--older brother Pete (Mike Maronna) and younger brother Pete (Danny Tamberelli)--in a surreal town populated by an oddball assortment of characters, including a militant Girl Scout, a lovelorn schoolbus driver, a housewife with a steel plate in her head, and a spandex-sporting strongman (the hilarious Toby ...

Sherlock Holmes And The Secret Weapon film
$14.99 Ryan, a lion cub, worships his father, Sampson (Kiefer Sutherland), the brawny, brave, uncontested king of a New York City zoo. The film opens as Ryan listens adoringly as Sampson recounts yet another tale of roaring wildebeests into submission on the African savannah. While the zoo animals cavort, Ryan slips into a metal crate bound overseas for a chance to see "the wild" for himself. Now Sampson, with the help of his loyal friends Benny the squirrel (James Belushi), Nigel the koala bear (Eddie Izzard), Bridget the giraffe (Janeane Garafalo), and Larry the snake (Richard Kind), must brave the New York City jungle and then the actual jungle to save his son from the clutches of a crazed wildebeest with aspirations to carnivorousness (William Shatner). To make things worse, Sampson confesses that his heroic stories were fabrications; he's completely lost in his wild surroundings, unable to fight off a rabid poodle or eat a sassy hyrax.
Since ANTZ hit the cineplexes in 1993, computer-animated films about chatty animals have proliferated, but THE WILD is perhaps the first that is heavily influenced by its immediate predecessors, taking a little plot from MADAGASCAR, adding healthy doses of the ICE AGE films, and borrowing ...
