Don't get me wrong. The movie was great! Strong character developement & true to King's story. That is up until the last part. Even in 1990 someone should have come up with something more impressive [special effects or not]& serious than a giant angry spider. All of a sudden IT seemed like one of those Japanese "B" movies. [Unless I missed the symbolism in that big spider.] I don't remember any character in the book being fearful of spiders!That is why I gave it only 4 stars.
Nonetheless, the casting in this film
was right on the mark, especially the
child actors. Every single one, who I believe were all newcomers to the big screen, did an amazing job. But, I cannot help from reminding, nothing compares to how you get to be in the story than by reading the book
itself. It is one of my all time favorites.

I agree Stephen King's IT the movie has nothing against the book, but for people who don't read, this movie will still be a good movie. The Plot is simple, the characters are well played and everything is right. Still you might be disapointed by the ending if you didn't read the book. For me being a big stephen king fan myself I believe that this movie deserved a 4 star raiting because of that fault in the movie. Also I still think it would have been cool to put in the part where after they defeated IT, the town collapses due to the hole town was apart of IT. (The End of the Book) I think that would have spiced up the movie a little bit more. But still this was a perfect good movie and I recamend Highly to anyone to buy this movie. You will not be cursing your name for buying it. I PROMISE

This is one of the few of King's books made for the silver screen (and this one a TV mini series, yet), that actually followed the story line...for the most part. A great line-up of seasoned actors/actresses help bring the evil that haunts the small town of Derry, Maine, to life. Quite possibly the best role for Tim Curry since Rocky Horror. I highly recommend this for all of you King fans out there.

With OPEN CITY, Rossellini has created a testament to the strength of the human spirit in the face of horrible adversity, in a story that extols the heroism of defiant, ordinary people who strive to hold onto their humanity in the cold, chaotic world of WW II.
