Morris Mischken (Zero Mostel) is a tailor who is praying for a miracle. The miracle he gets is an angel, Mr. Levine, in the form of Harry Belefonte. The angel could use a miracle himself as he tries to put a stormy past behind. The interaction between the human and the divine aspects of hope for both the tailor and the angel is fascinating to watch.
