Closed Captioned; Bio/Filmographies; Soundtrack English; Soundtrack French; Soundtrack Spanish; Dolby Digital 5.1 Re This 10-part HBO television miniseries focuses on Easy Company, a group of American soldiers in World War II, tracking their experiences from the beginning of boot camp to the end of the war. Anchored by actors Damian Lewis and Ron Livingston, the series gives detailed attention to their experiences as a group, as well as the way that each of them develops individually. Based on historian Stephen E. Ambrose's book of real-life accounts, BAND OF BROTHERS was executive produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, who worked together on SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. Hanks also directed one episode, featuring his son, Colin Hanks. The best Band of Brothers What can i say other than one of the best made for TV serials ever made! Outstanding young cast, superb direction and production values. Probably made with an unlimited budget but still episodes that make you want to follow the course of these guys from start to finish. And probably the best boxset you will ever purchase. Highly recommended! Faithful in spirit to Stephen Ambrose's book, and a good portrait of the camaraderie that develop between soldiers during war. An excellent means of illustrating the virtues of the "citizen soldier". Submitted by a reviewer (Boston, MA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$10.29 The feature film debut of Hayao Miyazaki (NAUSICAÄ OF THE VALLEY OF THE WIND, PRINCESS MONONOKE), THE CASTLE OF CAGLIOSTRO depicts one adventure of the master thief Lupin and his rough-around-the-edges gunman, Jigen. Something of a cross between Batman, James Bond, and Cary Grant's character in TO CATCH A THIEF, Lupin is a suave ladies' man who is also given to feats of athletic daring, aided by a gadget filled belt that gets him out of more than a few scrapes. The plot has Lupin and Jigen traveling to the sleepy little country of Cagliostro and coming to the aid of the unwilling fiance of the diabolical Count Cagliostro. After CAGLIOSTRO, Miyazaki stopped creating "slapstick" feature films in favor of more serious fare; CAGLIOSTRO shows, however, that he is quite capable of delivering the goods in this genre. Based on the Lupin comics by the ...

However, instead of signing up for the police force, these hard-drinking Irish-American brothers take the law into their own hands a la Charles Bronson in DEATH WISH. Heralded as saints by the city's beleaguered residents, the brothers also attract the attention of Paul Smecker (Dafoe - EXISTENZ), the openly gay FBI special ...

Band Of Brothers movie DVD
$15.25 Writer-director Quentin Tarantino revisits the seedier side of Los Angeles--following 1992's RESERVOIR DOGS--with this funny, violent, tongue-in-cheek tribute to the less "classic" side of filmmaking--the potboilers and capers, the Blaxploitation flicks and gangster movies. The film interweaves three tales, told in a circular, fractured manner, which only fully connect by the time the final credits roll. The first story focuses on Vincent Vega (John Travolta) and Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson), two hit men on duty for "the big boss," Marsellus Wallace (Ving Rhames), whose gorgeous wife, Mia (Uma Thurman), takes a liking to Vincent. In the second, a down-and-out pugilist (Bruce Willis), who is ordered to take a fall, decides that there's more money in doing the opposite. The final chapter follows a pair of lovers (Amanda Plummer and Tim Roth) as they prepare to hold up a diner.
Tarantino wears his cinematic influences proudly, bringing them to life in the ironically hip, self-referential 1990s. The result is a work that changed the face of independent cinema forever, making it a legitimate player in the Hollywood mainstream. The all-star cast steps into ...

$8.55 In 1965, 400 American troops faced an ambush by 2,000 enemy troops in the Ia Drang Valley (also known as the Valley of Death), in one of the most gruesome fights of the Vietnam War. WE WERE SOLDIERS is a detailed recreation of this true story: of the strategies, obstacles, and human cost faced by the troops that participated. The story focuses on the lieutenant colonel that led the attack, Hal Moore (Mel Gibson), and a civilian reporter who accompanied them, Joseph Galloway (Barry Pepper), as well as a number of other soldiers who were involved.
This is an unusual Vietnam film in that it also shows the North Vietnamese perspective on the battle; their leader Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu An (Don Duong) is depicted as a brave soldier and smart commander. And in addition to the many gory battlefield sequences--which seem to have been influenced by SAVING PRIVATE RYAN--we also see how the carnage of war affects those left behind, the soldiers' wives and children. Ultimately this ...

$6.99 Nicolas Cage stars as Jack Campbell, a career-driven workaholic who has everything: an exciting job, a Ferarri, a closetful of Zegna suits, and the attention of any woman he wants. His life changes when, after working a full day on Christmas Eve, he intervenes in a convenience store holdup. The apparent criminal, Cash (Cheadle), speaks to Jack in epigrams about his satisfaction with life. When Jack wakes up the next day, he's suddenly living in a New Jersey suburb, where he's married to his college sweetheart (Leoni) and is the father of two children. At first he is aghast, but Jack soon warms to his new life even though he knows that it cannot last. Unabashedly sentimental, the film is also a great comedy, as Cage gives a superb performance that makes the most of his character's obvious disgust with his suburban surroundings and even allows for a few moments of hysterics reminiscent of VAMPIRE'S KISS. Filled with great performances (notably Ms. Leoni's role as Jack's wife), inspired comedy, and a premise that suggests a slightly ...
| | How The Grinch Stole Christmas DVD (2000) Widescreen
Band Of Brothers review
$13.59 Director Ron Howard casts comedian Jim Carrey in the title role in this live-action adaptation of the famous Christmas tale by Dr. Seuss, giving this rendition of HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS a delightfully manic spin. Carrey is virtually unrecognizable in his elaborate green makeup, but his anarchic comic touch is unmistakable. He manages to fully embody the grumpy title character, while still supplying his own comedic touches, and it is his performance that makes the film a treat for adults and children alike. The candy-colored set design for the town of Whoville and the jubilant score contribute to the overall feeling of innocuous fantasy that the Grinch disrupts with his dastardly deeds. The familiar story of the Grinch stealing every present in town on Christmas Eve has been expanded to incorporate flashbacks to the Grinch's childhood, which serve to explain his hostility toward the Whos. As Cindy Lou-Who, a little girl so sweet ...

$31.65 Seth MacFarlane's animated comedy continues its assault on pop culture, good taste, and the Fox censors with its riotous fifth and sixth seasons. Even though nothing has really changed for the Griffin family, there's still plenty of comedic ground to cover. This batch of episodes sees, among other things, James Woods returning to Quahog to reclaim the life and family that Peter stole from him by filching the wallet Woods left behind at a Barry Manilow concert. Meanwhile, Brian causes tension between Peter and himself when he blurts out a profession of love for Lois during a Martha’s Vineyard getaway and later discovers he’s the illegitimate father of a puppy who’s dropped off on the Griffins' front door. Then, shortly after Peter acquires a record containing his favorite song, "Surfin’ Bird," and annoys everybody with it until it is destroyed, he goes out to ...
