Like other New Age pioneers, Georg Chaitanya Hari Deuter discovered his musical voice, as well as Indian philosophy, in the 1960s, when he began experimenting with the sounds of nature. Over the course of 30 years, he has been one of the more prolific and successful musicians of his genre, and his albums have become mainstays of meditation and healing sessions.
On LIKE THE WIND IN THE TREES, his flute, as usual, remains the centerpiece, subtly evoking a Japanese garden. "Reflections 2" makes the most of silence and a subdued wind chime, isolating Deuter's bamboo flute strains.

$14.45 Critics say that Radiohead is best, but Muse is equally passionate and mad when it comes to delivering a raw rock sound. The Hullabaloo Soundtrack arrived after only two albums -- 1999's Showbiz and 2001's indie smash Origin of Symmetry -- and it's an ambitious move for the band. Hullabaloo captures Muse live in concert at Le Zenith in Paris in October 2001 on disc two. Frontman Matthew Bellamy howls and halloos through classics like "Muscle Museum" and "Citizen Erased." His bandmates provide a tight, grunge-inspired rhythm section; however, Bellamy's vocal anguish is painfully romantic -- think Jeff Buckley and more conservative Thom Yorke. Theatrics do take over Muse's overall live show. One cannot ignore the sinister string arrangements of "Space Dementia," but newer cuts like "Dead Star" and "In Your World" showcase the band's original rock intent. No vocal mimicry, no electronic distortion. Disc one offers a selection of B-sides from the band's 1999 and 2001 sessions. Fans should be more than delighted to have each single compiled onto one album. Standouts: "Hyper Chondriac Music" and "Map of Your Head." Muse eagerly defines, in an artistic sense, what music means to them. For a massive follower of the band, the Hullabaloo Soundtrack is a decent look back. For new fans, consider the album a treat. ~ MacKenzie Wilson

Like The Wind In The Trees CD music
$9.05 The Chemistry tend to fall into the glut of power pop or emo-punk bands in the vein of Jimmy Eat World or Taking Back Sunday. With the opening "From Within," the gloss and polish of a radio-friendly tune is ever present, but there are enough twists and turns to keep you interested. The middle portion, though, veers briefly into the "screamo" domain, something Alexisonfire is more experienced with. The musicianship is quite solid, especially on the darker groove running through "About You," although its chorus is far too sappy. Unfortunately, they seem rather bland and prepackaged on the limp "Deja Vous," which is very déjà vu. "The Same" has a bit more urgency yet doesn't pass the bar, although the high harmonies and melody do have some strength. The group nails "Hopeless," although some might consider it a throwaway filler track. Slower and a tad softer, the band's full talents are on display, relying on the songwriting more than the hook to drive the neo-power ballad home. "At a Glance" tends to disappoint, resembling Simple Plan if they were doing a Spin Doctors cover. The ...

$21.69 This 3-CD box set brings together a trio of new-age instrumentalist Yanni's albums from the early 1990s under one cover. The first of these, 1991's IN CELEBRATION OF LIFE, is itself a compilation, drawing from four of the artist's early albums and giving weight to his orchestral, neo-classical side. 1992's ...
