| | Denison Marrs Then Is The New Now CD Denison Marrs Discography of CDs
Denison Marrs' third full-length album, Then Is the New Now, continues the band's accessible indie rock sound akin to a cross between Stavesacre, Hum, and '80s alterna-pop. There's a definite air of maturity showcased on this ten-song disc, as the band has finally displayed remarkable pop craftsmanship while still keeping a bit of an edge. While their previous effort, World Renown for Romance, was a display of dreamy, enchanting, sunny afternoon tunes, this disc focuses more on Denison Marrs vocalist Eric Collins and his unique, infective voice. The band then throws in straight-up power pop tunes with pressing guitar leads that fade back on the verses so that Collins' vocals can once again come up front. Although a somewhat enchanting sound, it takes a cover tune to showcase the group at its best. The classic tune "Send Me an Angel" is catchy and dramatic, displaying the Denison Marrs sound perfectly. Although not as interesting as their last full-length, if it's pop success that they want, this album (along with the big national distribution through Word Entertainment) will no doubt help them along on their way. ~ Kurt Morris
Recorded between February & March 2002.
Denison Marrs: Daniel Day, Jonathan Bucklew, Eric Collins, Joe Bucklew.

$13.89 Once upon a rhyme there were two syllables without a word to latch on to. Words came and went with reckless abandon and then disappeared as quickly as they'd been said. Never once feeling the need to attach themselves long term to unwanted syllables. The two unwanted syllables happened to crash together quite by accident. And together they created words in a tongue that nobody had ever heard before, let alone understood. Thus a new language was born. And it started with the local town idiots. They started picking up the language and grooving to it immensely and with sheer delight. Then the language branched out to idiots further away from home. Pretty soon it became a movement and idiots from near and far were grooving, dancing, and speaking in this unknown language made up by the two unwanted syllables. It was put to music. Mainly because the syllables were dead broke and needed to eat. And music made this language much more accessible to a public starved for a melody, reminiscent of some distant place and time. A time where guys named after bugs and rocks created nourishment for the starving masses. So 'KNOBODY' was born. It became an album. It is here for your listening pleasure. If you are thinking that nobody is writing songs for you, you are right. If you think nobody in the record business cares about the music, you are right. If you think that radio in the new millennium sucks, you are right. But KNOBODY ...
