Producers include: Kenny Kerner, Richie Wise, Neil Bogart, Kiss, Bob Ezrin, Eddie Kramer. Compilation producer: Bill Levenson. All tracks have been digitally remastered. Photographers: Richard Creamer; Steve Jennings; Fin Costello; Barry Levine; Neil Zlozower. Although several other hard rock acts have seen their hits repackaged more times than Kiss (namely the Who, Motörhead, Black Sabbath, etc.), the masked quartet certainly isn't far behind, as 2002 saw the group's latest in a long line of collections, The Very Best of Kiss. Despite recycling many of the same selections over and over on these sets (1978's Double Platinum, 1988's Smashes, Thrashes & Hits, 1997's Greatest Kiss, etc.), fans will flock to the stores to buy any piece of Kiss merchandise to complete their collections, hence the arrival of another of hits. While The Very Best of Kiss does contain a smattering of songs to make their debut on a hits collection (the live version of "Rock and Roll All Nite," "Got to Choose," "I Stole Your Love," "New York Groove," and a few non-makeup-era tracks), the majority of the track listing is comprised of songs already included on the aforementioned previous titles. Instead of finally doing it right and issuing a double-disc set that spans their career (ŕ la the Who's 2002 anthology, The Ultimate Collection), there are too many hits and standout tracks that get skipped over by limiting it to a single disc. For newcomers to the band who want to get a brief overview of Kiss, The Very Best of Kiss is adequate, but certainly not the definitive collection. ~ Greg Prato THE VERY BEST OF KISS is yet another compilation guaranteed to be snapped up by legions of die-hard completists who undoubtedly own innumerable versions of these musical warhorses, its contents nonetheless serve as a solid primer for the uninitiated. Alongside the inclusion of ever present hits like the anthemic "Rock And Roll All Nite" and its power-ballad counterpart "Beth" are Kiss standards like "Deuce," "Detroit Rock City," "Strutter," "Love Gun" and "Christine Sixteen." Along with a foray into disco ("I Was Made For Lovin' You") and guitarist Ace Frehley's theme song (the killer "New York Groove") are songs by the post-makeup group including "Lick It Up" and the soaring Michael Bolton collaboration "Forever." Also included is "God Gave Rock And Roll To You II," Kiss's sequel to the Rod Argent hit with a similar title, in a version originally found on the long out-of-print BILL AND TED'S BOGUS JOURNEY soundtrack.

Very Best Of Kiss
$14.55 'Bedlam Born' is an album that sees Steeleye Span return tothe glorious resonance of their 70s heyday - the true soundof a rock band playing folk music. This is the sound of oneof Britain's most famous, influential bands at their very best. 2000 release. Standard jewelcase.
Steeleye Span: Gay Woods (vocals); Tim Harries (guitar, keyboards, bass); Bob Johnson (guitar); Peter Knight (fiddle, keyboards); Dave Mattacks (drums). Recorded at Warehouse Studios, Oxford, England. Personnel: Robert Johnson (vocals, guitar); Tim Harries (vocals, electric guitar, keyboards); Peter Knight (vocals, violin, electric violin); Gay Woods (vocals, percussion); Dave Mattacks (drums, percussion). Audio Mixer: John Etchells. Recording information: Warehouse Studios, Oxford, England. Arrangers: Gay Woods; Tim Harries. For the first time in over two decades, Steeleye Span sounds like a bona fide band again. While their string of sporadic comeback albums from the past 20 years were generally decent (although not spectacular), they seemed to lack the intangibles that distinguish a true and cohesive group effort from a reformed assemblage that only half-heartedly recaptures their past glory. While only fiddler Peter Knight and guitarist Bob Johnson remain from that period, Bedlam Born is the closest Steeleye Span has come to recreating their '70s heyday. Bassist Tim Harries, who has been with them since 1989's Tempted and Tried, provides the most out-and-out rock & roll moment on this album with his electric guitar debut on "John Ditchford." At least three other tracks ("Well Done Liar," "The Beggar," and "We Poor Labouring Men") also display a noticeable rock angle that hearkens back to albums like Rocket Cottage and Parcel of Rogues. But this album is equally divided ...
