| | Slaughter Extended Versions CD Slaughter Discography of CDs
Few hair metal bands were as bombastic as Slaughter -- their overdubbed backing vocals brought to mind Queen, Mark Slaughter's vocals were obviously patterned after Robert Plant, and their musical role model was Def Leppard. All of these elements are on display on the Slaughter edition of the budget-priced Extended Versions series. Comprised of ten live tracks, the set does a good job of covering favorites from early in the band's career, as their two biggest hits are included -- the party anthem "Up All Night" and a power ballad so Zeppelin-esque that it probably made Kingdom Come green with envy, "Fly to the Angels." But there's one tiny problem here -- longtime fans will probably be left longing for a complete live set, while newcomers will be looking for a more extensive set of the better-known studio versions. ~ Greg Prato Slaughter Extended Versions Songs Extended Versions Review

| | Ozzy Osbourne Ozzmosis CD (1995) Remastered
Extended Versions album
$7.59 Let us all be thankful that Ozzy's retirement didn't stick. It supposedly lasted for three days, after which he got bored and started working on this project. Heavy, riff-intensive tunes, progressive song structures and a little psychedelia give OZZMOSIS a definite Sabbath flavor. Ozzy must have been in touch with whatever inspired early classics like PARANOID and MASTERS OF REALITY. Witness the extremely chunky "Thunder Underground," which can stand up next to "Sweet Leaf" and "Symptom Of The Universe" as an archetype of hard rock. The trippy guitar in "Ghost Behind My Eyes" and "Denial" are not some young Ozzy-wannabe going for a retro sound--this man was there, "Planet Caravan"ing.
Still, this heavy metal daddy in touch with his roots is also hip to the genre's latest sound. OZZMOSIS ...
| | Ozzy Osbourne The Ozzman Cometh CD (2002)
Extended Versions CD music
$9.69 THE OZZMAN COMETH is a single CD collection of hits, previously unavailable recordings and one new track. Previously included a limited edition second disc containing 2 of the 4 previously unavailable recordings as well as an interview with Ozzy Osbourne.
As if we needed another reason to believe that Ozzy Osbourne is God, along comes THE OZZMAN COMETH, a double CD retrospective of one of the most enduring and influential figures in heavy metal. Consisting mostly of his post-Black Sabbath solo work as well as a live version of "Paranoid," this collection's biggest asset is the so-called "basement tapes," never-before-heard rehearsal tapes of four classic Sabbath songs. Dating back to 1970, "Black Sabbath" and "War Pigs" are the songs that transformed ...

| | No 9 No.9 CD (1999)
Extended Versions music CDs
$11.15 In 1999, Mark Holmes, David Barrett and Sascha, released their self titled cd "no.9". The cd was written, arranged and produced by "no. 9". It was recorded in Toronto at Spike Sound Studios, engineered by Spike and mixed by Spike and Lerxst. With two thirds (Mark and Sascha) of "no. 9" being former "Platinum Blonde" members, the band name was short lived. In the summer of 1999, "no. 9" changed their name to "Platinum Blonde '99", and toured Canada extensively to sell out crowds in support of both the new "no. 9" cd, and the "Platinum Blonde" greatest hits package, "Seven Year Itch". The cd features 10 tracks plus a hidden 11th track, (an alternate vocal version of the lead off track, "Alright"). Alex Lifeson is featured on keyboards (not guitar!) on the 10 minute + epic, "My Time". Guest background vocals: Bobbi Guy, Kenny Maclean, Kathryn Rose.
It had been ten years since Platinum Blonde -- one of Canada's greatest 1980s powerhouse phenomenas -- officially closed up shop -- with their last ditch efforts (released as the Blondes) called Yeah, Yeah, Yeah and a posthumous halfhearted live album. Frontman Mark Holmes had been experimenting with music for most of the '90s as a DJ and a studio man, which made the prospect of his first solo project all the more enticing. No. 9 (presumably named after Lennon's seminal soundscape, "Revolution No. 9") plays in an ...
