Butthole Surfers: Blind Eye Sees All Movie Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) The next best thing I've had the pleasure of seeing the 'Surfers many times (including the show which preceded this one), and each concert was different. Having said that, this video does a good job of capturing the Buttholes early in their career. Everything is in place: A brilliantly crazy vocalist (Gibby), a guitarist equally brilliant and nearly as crazy, a bass player (Trevor) who doubles on Sousaphone, and finally, two drummers apparently joined physically or otherwise, so seamless is their playing. (Two Drummers, No Waiting!) If you are a fan of '80s psychedelic/punk, you probably own this already. If not, and you enjoy hearing a dumpster full of chainsaws struck repeatedly with a steam locomotive, this is for you. This DVD brings back fond memories every time. Great stuff from their early days... The Butthole Surfers were one of the true originals in punk/psychedelic rock from the 80's and 90's! This early video shows them as they built their legendary live reputation. Most of the tunes are from their first 3 albums and a stand out is 100 Million People, released originally only on hard to find compilations. Gibby sings in a little nurse outfit with cigarettes and tampons in his hair, and in a long body suit of some sort. Interviews punctuate many of the songs (I guess the DVD seperates the songs and interview segments). Overall, great fun from the old days when MTV ignored all the best bands and so did most everyone else! Video snobs may scoff at the quality but I think it's real good considering the footage was shot in very early 1985, when you couldn't even get punk rock on C.D.'s!! This may appeal only to Surfer's fans, but I think most fans of the genre will enjoy as well! Providing of course your idea of punk isn't Blind Melon!! Submitted by a reviewer (Chicago Il.) | | Butthole Surfers Rembrandt Pussyhorse CD (1986)
Butthole Surfers: Blind Eye Sees All review
$12.79 The CD version of REMBRANDT PUSSYHORSE also contains the CREAM CORN FROM THE SOCKET OF DAVIS EP. The cassette version contains only the REMBRANDT PUSSYHORSE LP.
Everything seems to start almost normally on Pussyhorse with "Creep in the Cellar," even with the rather gone violin line -- Haynes is intelligible, the piano part is quiet serene. Then again, Haynes is talking about the creep in question doing things like taking off his skin, so clearly all is still at least somewhat tweaked in Surferland. The rest of the album makes that pretty clear; if not quite as strong as Psychic...Powerless, Pussyhorse is still a strong slice of homegrown art/psychedelia gone to a murky hell. Gentler songs like "Sea Ferring" still have a distinct queasiness to them, its sea chanty feeling undercut by the nagging bassline and Haynes' yelps. When the group goes totally nuts, as on a drum-blasting, squiggly voiced ...

Butthole Surfers: Blind Eye Sees All DVD
$13.09 Although the Surfers aren't afraid to offer up a fairly straightforward punk song (the rocked-out "Human Cannonball" hints at their future accessibility), these mad sonic scientists seem most comfortable making listeners uncomfortable, as on the closing "22 Going on 23," which happily and intrepidly pushes the limits of offensive subject matter. Though some Surfers diehards (particularly ...

Butthole Surfers: Blind Eye Sees All video
$12.95 Die-hard Butthole Surfers fans are often compelled to own every rare recording that they can dig up, and this disc is one that they will be foaming at the mouth over. Humpty Dumpty L.S.D. is an odd assortment of tracks that span the career of these psychedelic nightmare-weavers, from their early days of cockroaches and megaphones to their more refined and radio-friendly period. A number of songs were initially released on a variety of hard-to-find compilations, such as "Eindhoven Chicken Mask," which appeared on Touch & Go's God's Favorite Dog compilation, as well as the Butthole Surfers/Daniel Johnston collaboration "All Day," originally located on A Texas Trip. A couple tracks are actually early versions of songs that were ...

Hopping from group to group, he encounters another pretender, or "tourist," the morose Marla Singer (Helena Bonham Carter), who immediately gets under his skin. However, while returning from a business trip, he meets a more intriguing character--the subversive Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt). They become fast friends, bonding over a mutual disgust for corporate consumer-culture hypocrisy. Eventually, the two start Fight Club, which convenes in a bar basement where angry men get ...
