Released in 1995, the same year she was tragically shot, DREAMING OF YOU was the first of Selena's posthumous releases. Prior to her death, Selena had been something of a cultural icon in Latino communities, admired as much for her status as a positive cultural role model as for her breezy, catchy dance-pop.
Like many of Selena's albums, DREAMING OF YOU balances ballads with bouncy, Latin-inflected grooves, a combination that had gained her popularity with young Latino listeners and traditional Tejano fans alike. The news of the singer's death brought her music to wider attention among North American audiences, so the album struck a chord across different cultural communities, a fact reinforced, no doubt, by the album's mix of Spanish and English lyrics, and her duet with David Byrne on "God's Child."

If you have only heard a few Selena songs and are not sure if you're a Selena fan, and you aren't familiar with any of her Spanish music, this album is for you.
It's a great mix of some of Selena's later Tex-Mex songs (sung in Spanish) that made Selena the Tejano Queen, along with her cross over songs that show cased her vocal ability in a very different style.
This is Selena's last album with new songs, recorded before her murder, and it showcases the talent of this amazing rags-to-riches singer.

What amazes What amazes me the most of Selena is how far she has gone and how far will continue to go. The world can not ask for anything more then Selena. Her short life brought millions of smiles and opened up hearts everywhere. There is the legacy we all can remember from a person who was not only and artist, but an artist of the people. Know for her wonderful personality, I saw a Madonna in her. I can not imagine at what point Selena would be at this moment. But I know that Selena has touched my heart because she was a person who never left her nest, her roots, and most of all her personality. The world continues to be hungry for her voice, but the only hunger I have is to know that her music will continue through out the world, and it will! In loving memory, Selena.

I was listening to the review of selena's dreaming of you and realised how amazing her music is.
it reaches directly to the heart which is inspirational.
Her other albums, not just this one, are all great but dreaming of you is my favourite. if your going to buy this... it is a definate must-have!

Simply turning down the high-frequencies (treble) with the EQ on your hi-fi/cd-player will provide an alternative in this situation.LeitmOtif is an unusual-sounding artist fronted and, actually, entirely comprised of one man: Alex JT, who has played guitar for numerous other independent/local bands from lounge jazz/rock to classic prog-metal, though his influences are a broad scope beyond either of those.
