| | Icehouse Measure For Measure CD (1986) Remastered
Flowers CD music
$16.29 '80s pop faves Icehouse reissue their album MEASURE FOR MEASURE.
Based on the principles of balance, Measure for Measure is half-produced by David Lord, half by Rhett Davies. American and European editions benefit from a better track list, which opens with the Davies-produced "No Promises." A little too close to Bowie and Metheny's "This Is Not America," perhaps, but very nice all the same. "Cross the Border" resembles and continues the close ...
| | Icehouse Sidewalk CD (1984) Remastered
Flowers music CDs
$16.65 "ICEHOUSE", "SIDEWALK", "WARNER BROTHERS", "CD", "ROCK" This remastered edition includes four bonus tracks from the Iva Davies-led Austrailian experimental rock band.
Sidewalk is Icehouse's least-effective album, mainly because of a stagnant array of narrowly synthesized pop songs which lack the warmth, melody, or perkiness that can be found in later efforts. The hooks are few and far between, and while their sultry keyboard recipe falls into the same category as that of the Human ...
| | Icehouse Primitive Man CD (1982) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Flowers songs
$16.29 Long before they had pop hits in the late-1980s, Aussie Iva Davies and his outfit Icehouse started off as a moody rock band influenced by the glam of the 1970s. 1982's PRIMITIVE MAN, the act's second release painted an aural landscape of artful music.
As an oboe/guitar player involved in electro popular music, it's no surprise Iva Davies took to Roxy Music, especially on "Street Café" and the mega-hit "Hey Little Girl," which duly landed in no less than 13 European Top Ten singles charts, going all the way in Switzerland. An album of atmospheres, "Great Southern Land" evokes images of Australia's arid interior, while "Trojan Blue" conjures up medieval Italy or France. "Mysterious Thing" continues Primitive Man's ...
| | Icehouse Man Of Colours CD (1987) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Flowers album
$15.15 This album by the Australian New Wave band Icehouse includes "Crazy," "Electric Blue," and "My Obsession."
On their fifth album, the smooth pop style of Australia's Icehouse is garnished with even more bouncy synthesizers and lavish melodies than their earlier work. Lead singer Iva Davies elaborated slant is immediately forthcoming in all the tunes on this album, but is truly the best working part behind the group. Man of Colours' first two tracks attached themselves to the Top 40, with "Crazy" peaking at number 17 in 1987 and "Electric Blue" reaching number seven in 1988, a song co-written by John Oates. After these two singles, the rest of the album becomes thin with keyboard -- crammed, syncopated rhythms jumping behind electric guitar that can barely be noticed. Even though the emphasis on keyboards ...

| | Hayden Skyscraper National Park CD (2001)
Flowers album
$11.29 Touted early on as a Canadian counterpart to Beck, singer-songwriter Hayden (aka Paul Hayden Desser) found himself without a label after a few promising outings for the majors. Initially self-issued in very limited numbers, SKYSCRAPER NATIONAL PARK garnered significant indie buzz, and for good reason--the album, which was eventually released in the U.S in 2002, is a meditative, folk-influenced masterpiece marked by Hayden's wistful vocals and chiming guitar lines (see the subtly expansive "Dynamite Walls"). Although it seemed as if Hayden would be unable to match this underrated low-key triumph, he did exactly that on his equally impressive `04 follow-up, ELK-LAKE SERENADE.
haydenskyscraper national parkHayden breaks his 3-year silence. Skyscraper National Park is the welcome return from self-imposed exile. Critically acclaimed yet commercially overlooked, Hayden's path is as storied as it is unconventional. In 1992, Hayden first begins writing and recording his own material at home on a 4-track. He creates his own label, Hardwood, and spends the next three years releasing 7 singles, EPs and his first album. Major label interest follows and Hayden moves out of basement recordings ...
