(1 Customer Review)
Metropolis Present Day? is an intriguing LP, one of Felix's first stabs at a conceptual album, including past singles like "Footsteps of Rage!" and "Metropolis" as well as interesting stylistic excursions like the airy, meandering "Marine Mood." Robert Hood provides a remix of "Footsteps," among other highlights including "Somekinda Special" and "B 4 Wuz Then." ~ John Bush

Metropolis Present Day? Thee Album music CDs
$12.65 "What Would You Do" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
With Wyclef Jean as one the executive producers, sonic resonance and resourcefulness is a given on CITY HIGH. What this two-guys-and-a-girl trio brings to the table as an essential asset is a vocal blend that capably mixes hip-hop and R&B while maintaining a soulfulness that's both commercially accessible and aesthetically substantive. While the mellow vibe and subtle groove that's the major undercurrent of most of these songs goes down easily, CITY HIGH isn't just smooth-sounding fluff. Lyrically ...

Metropolis Present Day? Thee Album album
$5.49 This is the second volume in a series in which four indie labels get together and showcase their best and brightest talent. All the tracks can be found on the bands' releases except for two demo versions: Allister's "Somewhere Down in Fullerton" and the Stereo's "You Better Believe It." A run down the labels for the viewers at home: Commercial indie Drive Thru (they have a distribution deal with mighty MCA) showcases six bands, including Finch, RX Bandits, and Home Grown. Emo stalwart Fueled by Ramen also has six bands, including the Impossibles and the extremely energetic The Stereo. Suburban Home only has five bands here, the most promising being Saturday Supercade. Polyvinyl has the most diverse lineup, as each of their six bands sounds completely different from the others. From the drum and organ cuteness of Mates of State to the sonic adventurism of Aloha to the emo-tastic sounds of Sunday's Best, Polyvinyl ...
