There's been a lot of hubbub about the marketing tactics of this album by a teenage lesbian female duo, who are pictured in the booklet as frolicking schoolgirls locking all available limbs around each other in their underwear. Still, that doesn't mean that said duo's debut album 200 KM/H IN THE WRONG LANE is lacking in pop hooks or spot-on production. With ace producers like the estimable Trevor Horn on hand, one would scarcely expect otherwise. With most of the album split between straight-ahead dance-pop and a kind of post-Alanis aggro rock tempered by the pair's wispy, Bjork-like voices. It's something of a surprise to be confronted mid-album with a quite faithful cover of the Smiths' beloved paean to misery "How Soon is Now," and no less of a surprise to find how seamlessly it's brought across. Adding an exotic, one-big-world touch to the whole affair, the ladies in question (Lena Katina and Juia Volkova) hail from Russia, where their teen lipstick-lesbian image first brought them fame.

tATu set to burst into UK
UK still awaits the release of this album and the associated single. It is sure to be a great hit and will rise to No1. A great mix of 'intelligent rock' and some softer numbers. Can't stop playing it and my duaghters screaming for a copy.Band should not be afraid to us more Russian in there numbers as I believe that hte originals in Russian cut a sharper edge and will catsh on the back of the Russian chick wave crossing Europe.

You don't have to be gay like me to like this, but it helps a bit! It's very very cool and danceable music, and I even think that their version of "How Soon Is Now?" is way better than the original!

Horror author Anne Rice penned the screenplay for this full-blooded adaptation of her novel, which chronicles the life of 18th-century nobleman Louis (Brad Pitt) after he is bitten by powerful, charismatic vampire Lestat (Tom Cruise). Picture Tori Amos fronting Nickelback and you'll get an idea of the sound behind Evanescence, an Arkansas quartet whose introduction to the world came via the DAREDEVIL soundtrack. With its debut FALLEN, Evanescence further pushes the envelope on the aforementioned description, with frontwoman Amy Lee pouring her light-yet-strong vocals into the aggro-rock workout "Bring Me to Life" and industrial trip-hop of "My Last Breath." Although guitarists Ben Moody and John LeCompt leave no riff unplayed on hard-hitting cuts like "Going Under" and "Taking Over Me," Lee brings a nice balance to the table with her gorgeous piano runs, which come to the fore on the very Amos-like "Hello."
