Perhaps you got the impression from LA-based trio Lifehouse's smash 2000 debut album NO NAME FACE that they were just another bash-it-out post-grunge band with a Stone Temple Pilots jones. STANLEY CLIMBFALL, the band's accomplished follow-up would stand to prove you wrong. One listen to the title track, with its ornate keyboard arrangement, soaring guitar lines, and octave-spanning vocal melodies, would be proof enough all by itself, but it's got plenty of company. Throughout the album, the band deftly adds colors here and there to keep their guitar-bass-drums template from ever getting too monochromatic. That doesn't mean they don't make with the R-O-C-K anymore of course; the guitars churn, the drums bash, and the angst-filled vocals alternately simmer and shout in all the proper places. It's just that with STANLEY CLIMBFALL the lads seem to have begun--dare we say it--growing up.
STANLEY CLIMBFALL [LIMITED] contains two bonus tracks.

Stanley Climbfall album
$10.39 In the year 2000, you'd be well within your rights to assume there's little new ground to be broken by a guitar-bass-drums rock band. Admittedly, you'd probably be right; Lifehouse doesn't break any astonishing new ground or pioneer any new trends. That's not what this pop-rock trio is about. They're more concerning with crafting solid songs and arresting arrangements than being the Next Big Thing. Fortunately, their songcraft has proven solid enough to earn them a solid following.
The group has clearly learned some lessons from the post-Nirvana school of alt-rock. They handily combine melodic, understated moments with emphatic sonic outbursts. Moody keyboards and delicate acoustic guitar walk hand in hand with hardy power chords and hard-hitting rhythms. Simple but effective melodic hooks keep the listener's attention focused on both the personal, ruminative lyrics and the pop-friendly ...

Stanley Climbfall CD music
$10.59 Lifehouse's self-titled third album continues the group's brand of strong and sturdy rock, with a newfound maturity reflected in frontman and main songwriter Jason Wade's efforts. Besides having a hand in penning all 12 songs, Wade took the lead in creating the kind of subtle string arrangements that give "All in All" a very Beatlesque sheen. "Walking Away" delves into very personal territory for Wade, with lyrics seemingly aimed a former father figure. Also tying into this confessional detailing of teen abandonment are the churning "Blind," and "Better ...
| | Jack Johnson Brushfire Fairytales CD (2001)
Stanley Climbfall music CDs
$11.99 Johnson's songs are simultaneously well crafted and executed in an almost throwaway manner. "Fortunate Fool" is airy yet acidic--this surfer dude is no airhead--while "F-Stop Blues," on the surface a paean to the surfer lifestyle, is really a lament for wasted time that features Johnson's pleasant, lazy vocals to excellent effect. BRUSHFIRE FAIRYTALES displays the kind of insouciance born of innocence, almost as if no-one involved cared if the album sold ten copies or ten million--and of course that's the attraction.
Surfer-turned-rocker Jack Johnson has composed songs for G. Love and Special Sauce, and is signed to Ben Harper's manager's record label, so it's ...
| | Iron Maiden - Death On The Road DVDs (2003)
Stanley Climbfall songs
$14.49 Iron Maiden's live album DEATH ON THE ROAD captured the heavy-metal legends at a stop on their 2003 tour, which promoted both that year's DANCE OF DEATH and the best-of collection EDWARD THE GREAT. Recorded at the Westfalenhalle Arena in Dortmund, Germany, this concert film presents DEATH ON THE ROAD in visual form, with Maiden tearing through newer fare from DANCE OF DEATH as well as older classics like "Can I Play with Madness" and "The Trooper" for a potent showcase of singer Bruce Dickinson's soaring vocals and the band's trademark three-guitar assault.
This 3 DVD package is the companion to the double live CD released in 2005. Filmed in Dortmund, Germany during ...
| | Lifehouse Who We Are CD (2007)
Stanley Climbfall album
$10.39 On its fourth full-length studio album, WHO WE ARE, the Los Angeles-based pop/rock trio Lifehouse stays steady on its adult-alternative course, offering up a guitar-driven post-grunge set that is ready-made for radio play. While this 2007 outing isn't a major departure from past Lifehouse releases, it does rock a little harder than its eponymous predecessor, a point hit home ...
| | U2 - Popmart: Live From Mexico City DVD (1998) DTS Sound
Stanley Climbfall CD music
$10.55 Since becoming wildly popular in the 1980s, Irish band U2's sound has grown from a raw, soulful rock to a more electronica-tinged, experimental brand of pop. In line with this, U2's stage act has grown into a showcase of lavish special effects, cutting-edge sound, and spectacular multimedia enhancement. POPMART features ...

| | Queen Night At The Opera CD (1975) Limited Edition; Remastered
Stanley Climbfall music CDs
$19.49 NIGHT AT THE OPERA is a 12-track release by British rockers Queen and features the classic "Bohemian Rhapsody."
Though they began their career practicing an artier, more theatrical variant on Led Zeppelin's heavy rock sound, Queen was always capable of much more. Ultimately, Freddie and the boys were popsters at heart, and capable ones to boot. A NIGHT AT THE OPERA is where they begin to show their eclecticism and compositional facility. The album title is probably a reference to the FM rock anthem "Bohemian Rhapsody," which begins as an existential ballad before moving into a mock-operatic section featuring scores of overdubbed Freddie Mercurys.
"Rhapsody" is just the tip of the iceberg here. "Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon" is a music-hall ditty that owes a debt to the Kinks. "'39" is a surprisingly poignant folk-rocker written and sung by Brian May. "You're My Best Friend" is pure '70s AM melodic pop. Queen even ventures ...
