Also includes enhanced CD-Rom footage shot during the recording of the album. Digipak. Warner Bros. 2002.Rolling Stone (10/02, p.67) - 4 stars out of 5 - "At once nostalgic and forward-looking, THE LAST DJ is quintessential Petty, by turns strident and starry-eyed." Entertainment Weekly (10/11/02, p.83) - "...Basically an album-length rant about greed and corruption in the music biz....about as entertaining as polemical pop music can be..." - Rating: A- Uncut (12/02, p.130) - 3 stars out of 5 - "...[Petty sings] with rawer passion than the genre usually allows..." Mojo (Publisher) (12/02, p.108) - "...A sage and solid record then...anyone who's ever dug Petty's considerable craftsmanship can approach it with confidence..." Last DJ Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Awesome!!!!! This is the best TP release since 1981's "Hard Promises". It amazes me how radio throws all the great talent of the past under the bus in favor of all these new clones. What happened to Radio indeed!

fresh matureness He´s got the rock and he learned a lot from his Jeff Lynne and Wilburys experiences. Now he brings up a CD full of his musical expresiveness, with light but pointful arranges and ironic lyrics.I don´t speak english enough to be fair on it. Neither in spanish.Just shut up and bring back rock and roll.Listen... Submitted by a reviewer (Mexico DF, Mexico) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
New song topic - Same great music Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers new album "The Last DJ" really shows a new side of the band. In comparison to some of their other songs like "Free falling" and "Mary Jane's Last Dance" the songs of this album have more thought provoking lyrics that mean a lot to musicains and music lovers alike. I would whole-heartedly recommend this album to everyone. Even if you are a die-hard Petty fan you'll love it. Submitted by a reviewer (Raleigh, NC, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
great cd from a great band This album is truly unbelievable. (of course, that's pretty much all you can expect from such a great band) This album deserves more respect. The thing that makes this album more unique than other petty albums is there is a concept to this album. Basically, the concept is how "corporate rock" has made dj's play what the station wants them to play, not what they want to play. Also, the concept is based on kids' lack for listening to all the great music of the past. I myself am 14 and one of my favorite bands is tp and the heartbreakers. So go figure! Last DJ
$6.39 The Corrs: Jim Corr (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Sharon Corr (vocals, violin); Andrea Corr (vocals, tin whistle); Caroline Corr (vocals, drums, bodhran, percussion). Recorded at Ardmore Studios in Dublin, Ireland in January 2002. You knew the Corrs had made it when they played the final JFK Awards ceremony of the Clinton administration. Playing it would have been achievement enough, but their status as a happening thing was cemented at the end of the ceremony, during the encores, when everybody was taking their final bows. Bill moseyed up over to Andrea, put his arm around her, and when she was looking away, sized her up -- at precisely the same moment Chuck Berry was checking her out. If that doesn't mean that you've broken America, entering its pop culture, I don't know what does, expect for ...
| | Rolling Stones Beggars Banquet CD (1968)
Last DJ
$13.19 Remastered reissue of 1968 album, suitable for standard & 'Super Audio' CD players. Digipak.
The Rolling Stones: Keith Richards (vocals, guitar); Mick Jagger (vocals); Brian Jones (guitar); Bill Wyman (bass); Charlie Watts (drums). Recorded at Olympic Studios, London, England. The Stones forsook psychedelic experimentation to return to their blues roots on this celebrated album, which was immediately acclaimed as one of their landmark achievements. A strong acoustic Delta blues flavor colors much of the material, particularly "Salt of the Earth" and "No Expectations," which features some beautiful slide guitar work. ...

They are archetypical ballads in the style of Billy Joel or Elton John at their prime.
Joshua Kadison's lyrical ballads follow in the footsteps of Billy Joel and Elton John and speak of a disappearing American innocence. | | Shining Grindstone CD (2007) (Import) Norway
Last DJ
$15.69 After the free-for-all progressive jazz of their previous album "In The Kingdom Of Kitsch You Will Be A Monster", young Norwegian quartet Shining seem to have gone all-out for operatic metal and ridiculously elaborate instrumental flourishes in the vein of someone like Dream Theater. Initially, it all sounds incredibly, preposterously theatrical. Oh lordy. Or should that be Lordi? ‘Wintereisse’ is what Slayer would sound like if they got Rick Wakeman in for a session. Next up is ‘Stalemate Longan Runner’ which is clearly inspired by the doomier end of the metal spectrum until its coda sees the piece transformed into a kind of far-out chamber music, which leads nicely into the delicate music box interlude ‘To Be Proud Of Crystal Colors Is To Live Again’. Next up is the actually quite brilliant ‘70s pomp rock of ‘Moonchild Mindgames’, a piece of baroque nonsense Emmerson, Lake and Palmer might come out with in soundcheck. By the time you get to the end of Grindstone you might be unsure as to what exactly just happened to your ears. Penultimate track, ‘1:4:9’ sums this up perfectly with its weird melding of grindcore abrasion and ponderous fairytale melodies played out on flute, dulcimer and twinkling percussion. Absolutely nuts, and quite brilliant. Rune Grammofon.
Shining: Torstein Lofthus, Morten Strom, Andreas Hessen Schei, Jorgen Munkeby. Personnel: Åshild Skiri Refsdal (soprano); Kristoffer Myre Eng (organ); Danny Young (gong). Recording information: Propeller Music Division; Weirdest Places. Editors: Shining; Hasse Rosbach. The Norwegian quartet Shining plays high-octane prog rock with the untamed energy of newly minted punks, though their various lengthy experimental pieces are highly focused and performed with a great degree of technical prowess. Influenced by such genre-bending iconoclasts as the 1960s prog rock progenitors Soft Machine and '00s keepers of the flame the Mars Volta, the band's feats of musical dexterity span the dizzying changes ...
