Recording information: Poynters Palace, Little Rock, Arkansas. Photographer: David Johnson . Of all the metalcore bands that have come and gone over the span of the genre's history, Living Sacrifice has remained a band who never showed a sign of weakness. This is a band who, time and time again, release superior metal albums, always providing above-average albums over their decade as a band. Many proclaimed 2000's The Hammering Process as the group's ultimate release, and, in fact, one of the genre's best offerings that year. Those who doubted Living Sacrifice had the ability to deliver an album of that magnitude ever again, much less on the heels of The Hammering Process' surprising cult success, need only listen to Conceived in Fire. Once again, Living Sacrifice have outdone themselves, serving up some of the meatiest metalcore of 2002 with confidence and style. The 13 tracks that comprise Conceived in Fire feel less like individual achievements and more like one continuous proclamation of all which is brutal. Thundering drum dominance courtesy of Lance Garvin, one of the scene's most underrated performers, spearheads an album of exquisite malevolence. This intense anger is directed in a number of ways, be it the continued threat of battle among opposing countries ("Imminent War"), the lingering pain of past mistakes ("Send Your Regrets"), or the agony of one's faith ("The Martyr"), Living Sacrifice performs with a passion and determination unrivaled by their peers in the hardcore/metal community. The transformation the band has gone through is simply amazing, evolving from a solid death metal band into one of the new millennium's most inspirational leaders of heavy music, and once again these five men prove exactly why they are widely considered the best hardcore/metal band slaughtering fans across the country. Living Sacrifice's undeniable talent matched with Barry Poynter's vicious production skill has succeeded yet again, conceiving a record that matches the spectacular The Hammering Process at every turn. ~ Jason D. Living Sacrifice Conceived In Fire Songs Conceived In Fire Music Review Average Rating: (4.1 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Metal onslaught...! This is heavy stuff at it´s finest, buy now! Submitted by a reviewer (sweden) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
VERY HEAVY!!!!!!!!!! Living Sacrifice is one of the few bands that have become heavier with each release. The best sound comparison I could come up with would be Sepultura's "Arise" CD. The standout's are Imminent War (the opening track), Symbiotic, Subtle Alliance, Ignite and The Martyr. Most bands that are in this sound category are black/death metal bands. What's refreshing about Living Sacrifice is that they choose to keep their lyrical content very positive without using profanity yet their sound is downright brutal! THIS IS A MUST FOR ANY METALHEAD! Crushing This album is something else. LS is by far the best Christian death metal band out there. This album is one of the heavier from the band.
Every song is different and has it's own feel. There are a 1 or 2 songs that I don't really care for, but the others are incredible. There's a couple of songs that remind me of Slayer (formerly liked). As a guitar player, I'm picky about the playing and tone, and this one doesn't irk me at all. All I thought it could be Think of "The Hammering Process," then think of all the good parts you wished would've happened more throughout that album. Then take all those good parts, write more of them and make a complete album out of that. Welcome to "Conceived in Fire." This is the best album I've heard from Living Sacrifice, and I can't wait to see them on tour. Happy listening... you won't be disappointed. Submitted by slcaroth (Virginia) Was This Review Helpful? For Death Metal Fanss First of all, if you like back street boys or any kind of pop or radio music, go stick a dick in your ass. If you prefer hardcore with deep throat vocals that don't sound amature, guitars that sound like a distortioned bass drum, lyrics that aren't about how much life sucks and because your girl friend dumped you because of your 2 inch cock (and should just suck on a pacifier instead of screaming in a mic), with a thrashing melody that varryies in style each song...then you want this album.
