| | Disco Connection CD - Import (1 Customer Review)
Subtitled - Authentic Classic Disco 1976-1981. 2002 compilation featuring 12 under exposed & hard-to-find gems of the disco era, Change 'Paradise', Michel Polnareff 'Lipstick', Kleer 'Tonight's The Night (Good Time)', Janice McClain 'Smack Dab In The Middle', Goody Goody '#1 Dee Jay', Candi Staton 'When You Wake Up Tomorrow', Phreek 'Weekend', The Undisputed Truth 'You + Me = Love', Deodato 'Whistle Bump', Stargard 'Wear It Out', Sergio Mendes & Brasil 88 'I'll Tell You' & Chic 'Sao Paulo'.
This excellent collection draws on a variety of lesser-known disco tracks released through the Atlantic, Elektra, and Warner labels between 1976 and 1981. The producers of Disco Connection: Authentic Classic Disco 1976-1981 did a fine job of combing the vaults, resulting a consistently engaging set of songs that divides its time between legendary cult favorites from the golden age of discotheques and lesser-known tracks by some of disco's bigger groups. The best tracks in the former category are "You + Me = Love," an Undisputed Truth track that showcases powerhouse gospel-tinged vocals and a variety of instrumental hooks over an incredibly thick bassline, and Phreek's "Weekend," a sharp production from the legendary Patrick Adams that combines sleek vocal and string arrangements reminiscent of Chic with carefully layered synthesizer riffs. The best tracks in the latter arena are Deodato's "Whistle Bump," a glossy yet rhythmic instrumental that highlights a variety of jazzy guitar and keyboard riffs against a smooth, string-driven backdrop, and "Paradise," a track from cult disco outfit Change that contrasts hard-driving electronic grooves with a silky vocal arrangement. Disco Connection: Authentic Classic Disco 1976-1981 further benefits from thoughtful sequencing that makes the disc a consistently engaging listen and short but informative liner notes. As a result, the album is a quality primer on some of disco's lesser-known favorites and a must-have for fans of the genre. ~ Donald A. Guarisco

Disco Connection
$22.39 This set includes Josh's 3rd studio album with musical contributions from LAdysmith Black Mambazo, Dave Matthews, Glen Ballard, Eric Mouquet, John Ondrasik Vandrasak from Five For Fighting, Marius DeVries, David Foster, and Herbie Hancock, plus 2 bonus tracks, along with a DVD featuring behind-the-scenes clips of Groban in the studio and more.
Personnel: Josh Groban; Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Expectations for vocalist Josh Groban's third release ran high, especially given the phenomenal success of his sophomore effort, CLOSER, which reached number one on the Billboard charts. Like Andrea Bocelli, Groban treads the line between classical, operatic singing, and crossover pop. AWAKE manages the synthesis beautifully. With its strong batch of songs, and Groban's voice continuing to develop, the album may even ...

She has played as a dj, mostly chill out music for several years allready, including the Samothraki Dance Festival in Greece. She has also released mixed cds on Flying Rhino. Together with her husband Gus Till, she makes music as Zen Lemonade. Check out their album Lemon Soul released on Dragonfly in 2002 to hear their experimental way of doing trance. Now she is out with her solo album called Luxury Addict, which she releases on her own label Hypo=espresso Records.First out is a relaxing sort of intro lasting for about three minutes. Here we get some mystic sounds, jazzy beats and some violin vibes. Track 2 goes a very different direction. Here we get some kind of electro synth pop, with a funky sound and a lot of vocals. So, here you can hear Super Cozi sing. Personally, I don’t listen much to synth pop, but this one sounds quite refreshing. Track 3 continues the synth pop style, but with a little bit more electro touch. Very experimental and different from most other music I have heard before. Downtempo, but not so chilled ...
