Return Of The Drifter CD music
$7.59 Digitally remastered by Bernie Grundman (Bernie Grundman Mastering, Los Angeles, California).
Jackson's domination of the world record market continued following Thriller, although by comparison it was an almighty flop with only 12 million sales. As Pink Floyd and Dire Straits have proved, one album can go completely sales haywire without necessarily being any better. The title track and the gorgeous "Man In The Mirror" were substantial hits, but quality material such as "Dirty Diana" and "Liberian Girl" bolster a strong album. Jackson also seemed to have found the romance he seeks in "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" and "The Way You Make Me Feel." Regardless of his press, history clearly shows that he has made a lot of people very, very happy.

| | Silky Soul Music: An All-Star Tribute To Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly CD (2009)
Return Of The Drifter music CDs
$10.19 A San Francisco-based smooth R&B act with roots in Philadelphia soul, Maze (usually billed as Maze featuring Frankie Beverly) never managed to break with a larger mainstream audience during their late-`70s to early `80s peak, but nevertheless garnered a devoted following in urban radio as one of the progenitors of the romantic, understated style known as "quiet storm." And the group's jazz-funk sophistication can certainly be felt in contemporary R&B and neo-soul styles of the `90s and `00s, with some of their career highpoints ("Joy and Pain" and "Before I Let Go") being ...

| | Platters All-Time Greatest Hits CD (2004) Remastered
Return Of The Drifter CD music
$11.99 Recorded between 1956 & 1967. Includes liner notes by Fred Bronson.
While this single-disc distillation of the Platters' biggest hits is superb, it's almost identical to Rhino's 1998 comp Enchanted: The Best of the Platters, except that the Rhino disc actually has everything here plus three additional tracks. None of those three extra songs are among the group's more familiar numbers, though, so in all honesty All-Time Greatest Hits will be just as sufficient for most fans. It has all 15 of their first Top Forty hits, an astonishing run that went from 1955's "Only You (And You Alone)" through 1960's "Harbor Lights," and adds the more modern soul-pop successes they landed in 1966 and 1967 with "With ...

| | Isley Brothers Love Songs CD (2001)
Return Of The Drifter songs
$6.25 Originally released on T-Neck Records. Includes liner notes by Virginia Prescott.
Along the way to being a bridge throughout the history of R&B throughout the latter half of the 20th century, the Isley Brothers also directly helped shape facets of the genre along the way. Starting in the '70s, eldest Isley siblings Ronald, Rudolph, and the late O'Kelly carved out a soundtrack for silk-sheet relations along with fellow love lords Barry White and Marvin Gaye.
This collection hinges on Ronald Isley's creamy falsetto; it's easy to mistake him for Al Green, particularly against a background of swirling keyboards on "For the Love of You (Parts 1 & 2)" and the crying guitar of "Voyage to Atlantis." As usual, the Isleys include unlikely artistic interpretations (Todd Rundgren's "Hello It's Me," and Seals & Crofts' "Summer Breeze") that work superbly. The most memorable bedside listening comes from the thick-as-molasses beat, crooning vocals, and background grunting of "Between the Sheets," the quintessential jam that's influenced an army of contemporary R&B lotharios, including R. Kelly and Joe. LOVE SONGS proves the Isleys to be the masters at the art of the seductive song.
Digitally remastered by Joseph M. Palmaccio (2000 Sony).
Producers: Isley Brothers, Malcolm Cecil, Robert ...

| | Iceage Cobra Brilliant Ideas From Amazing People CD (2006)
Return Of The Drifter album
$11.39 Iceage Cobra. The name alone evokes the sort of bent creativity and tongue-in-cheek self confidence you might hope to find in a new band, but it doesn't tell you everything you need to know... Iceage Cobra came roaring into Seattle from Spokane, WA like the other Northwest rock greats from outta nowhere. Melvins, Malfunkshun, Nirvana... Iceage Cobra. They don't grow this kinda stuff in the big city. Small towns often breed the bands that start modern revolutions - and Iceage Cobra has what it takes to incite a movement. Iceage Cobra could never have existed before now. Their influences span the decades before them, but their popular live show is far from being a retro revue. It's a blast of youth and rhythm and charisma and humor and overdriven riffs - an irresistible ...
