(DVD-AUDIO) This debut recording, originally released in 1989 when she was only 20 years old, was an impressive platform for Sarah McLachlan. I was very disappointed with this album. Aside from being only stereo, it is not a great recording and a poor mix and mastering. It's an early work of Sarah Mc's and certainly not near her recent recordings in song writing, voice or production.
My guess is the releasing record company, "Classic Records" gets masters that the primary record companies know they'll never want to release in this format and license them away. I will be wary of this company's releases in the future.

 An Entirely New Experience
Sarah McLachlan is easily my personal favourite female artist, however this album, Touch, has never really been one of my favourites of hers. As a first album, I've always had a respect and appreciation for it, but it is rarely the one I'll choose to listen to. That said, this DVD-A remastering is an INCREDIBLE experience for any Sarah fan. Her vocals take on a new tone and clarity that I've never heard outside of her concerts, and the mix in general is amazingly dynamic. While the disc only provides a 2-channel mix, this is more than satisfactory. Any fan of Sarah's would not regret this purchase!

On Santana's second Arista album, SHAMAN, the formula that turned SUPERNATURAL into a multi-platinum comeback machine is employed again with equally positive results. CYCLORAMA is the second studio album that Styx has made without former leader/singer/keyboardist Dennis DeYoung, with whom the group acrimoniously split a few years earlier. It's also the first to include DeYoung's replacement Lawrence Gowan, whose voice is in the same general ballpark as DeYoung's but never seems imitative. Longtime singer/guitarist Tommy Shaw is the dominant presence here, and his delivery of the ostensibly group-composed songs is full of energy and commitment. The songs themselves are not far from the material Styx tackled in their '70s glory days, minus the pomp-rock touches and with a bit more of an edge. That edge is most obvious in a couple of songs that seem to be directed at DeYoung, lyrics dripping in occasionally shocking vitriol. Though the DeYoung days are seemingly gone forever, CYCLORAMA suggests that the remaining members of Styx never wanted time to stand still anyway.
