Though critically acclaimed, like many of the artists picked up by the Mush brethren, Baltimore MC Omar Akbar has remained something of an undiscovered hero. Mush seeks to rectify this crime by collating the pick of the material from eight albums that spanned 1993 through 2000 on his own Ankh Ba Records. The timelessness of these tracks is nothing if not a testament to their quality, with backroom Professor Max Mineblo keeping his production low key, utilizing a number of simple loops that allow Lab's schizophrenic flow the freedom to flourish. Spiritual musings as well as day-to-day chitchat are kept interesting through skips of tempo occurring as often as changes in delivery. ~ Kingsley Marshall

Song Of The Sovereign album
$6.69 Reverse Causality is different from other compilations of its nature because it thrives on the random chance of finding amazing artists while trawling the internet and hearing new and striking sounds as these artists collaborate. The objective behind Reverse Causality as it was being compiled was to create an album unrestricted by genre, an album for people who enjoy good music in whatever form it may take. The results exceeded our wildest imagination, meandering between pounding beats, raucous riffs, acoustic bliss and the blues (of course). Though my words may be more than a little biased, I honestly believe that each and every song on this disc is a gem that, though unlike its counterparts, still blends perfectly with them into an eclectic mix that is bound to surprise and delight. Our artists come from all over the western world and all over the musical spectrum, and yet they share ...

By age 11, he was writing for the piano, and soon he was winning awards for his compositions. He studied piano with several teachers, including Dr. Edward Berryman, whose teaching lineage went back to Frederic Chopin. Joe went on to St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN, where he continued his music studies under Fr. Bob Koopmann and Dr. Ed Turley. He also studied composition, accompanied various soloists (vocal and instrumental), played in the jazz ensemble and sang in the men’s chorus. He also began writing material for these groups and beyond. After settling back into the Twin Cities after college, Joe began teaching piano lessons. He taught in various locations ...
