In 1993, Large Pro famously advised listeners to "buy the album when I drop it." Unfortunately, the album in question, THE LP, was shelved by MCA and hungry rap fans were forced to wait another nine years for the legendary producer's official solo debut. Blending his trademark loop-heavy production work with charismatic, positive-themed lyrics, 1ST CLASS was well worth the wait. Extra P blazes rhymes over 16 hot tracks, running through his untouchable resume on "Born to Ball" and passing the mic to longtime collaborators Nas ("Stay Chisel") and Akinyele as well as A-list MCs Q-Tip ("In the Sun") and Busta Rhymes ("On").

One could only wonder if he would of released this album 10 years ago how it would be viewed. After his debut the 'LP' was shelfed, many had to believe a Large Pro album would never see the day of light. Here comes '1st Class', it's a decent album, my favorite song is 'In The Sun' (feat. Q. Tip), eveyrthing else is just okay. The LP, though never officially released, is by far the better of his two albums. Submitted by Culture (Queens, NY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
One of the greatest producers of the golden age returns... If feels good to see a true veteran in hip hop returning with a tight album. Maybe the beats sound too simple to some of the new jacks but that's the way it used to be - 10 or 15 years ago nobody was asking if the music is club compatible, everyone was concentrating on the MC's skills. On the lyrical tip Extra P. does a good job with keeping it simple, straight to the core. He was never known for dropping the most complex lines, but his lyrics are definitely on point. Plus the great guest appearances add a little extra flavor to the mix. Has someone tha balls to give his first solo album "The LP" a proper release??? 1st Class album
$8.09 Diamond D had quietly provided some exciting production work and made strides within the rap music industry and community throughout the early '90s, but his name didn't become immediately recognizable until his classic guest appearance rapping on A Tribe Called Quest's "Show Business" ("Take it from Diamond/It's like mountain climbing/When it comes to rhyming/You gotta put your time in"), off their masterful second album, The Low End Theory. Even amid vintage verses by such lauded hip-hop company as Tribe's Q-Tip and Phife and Brand Nubian's Lord Jamar and Sadat X, something about Diamond D's forthright and rock-solid, but totally laid-back, style stood out. Hip-hop heads waiting to hear more from him were rewarded with a veritable ...

$23.65 It took forever, but finally the Lost Cherees are getting their due, not only from the anarcho-punk community that has always held them close to its heart, but from the wider world as well. The revitalized band's activities naturally play a part in the resurgence, but still it's an unexpected thrill to find more-or-less the original band's entire output reissued across a two-CD set, sensibly divided between the familiar LP and single material (disc one), and a mass of demos and live recordings that may not require too many repeated listens, but are great to have, regardless. Always one ...

1st Class music CDs
$25.25 While the 1958 volume in the Bear Family label's Blowing the Fuse series may not have as many utterly well-known hits, that doesn't mean it's not every bit a treasure trove of fine music. Far from it, and it does have its share; Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode," Johnny Otis' "Willie and the Hand Jive," Jackie Wilson's "Lonely Teardrops," Fats Domino's "Whole Lotta Loving," the Monotones' "Book of Love," and Bobby Freeman's' "Do You Wanna Dance" all qualify in this category, as does Little Richard's ...
