Rocket From The Crypt includes: Speedo (vocals, guitar); ND (guitar, background vocals); Apollo 9 (saxophone, background vocals); JC 2000 (trumpet, background vocals); Petey (bass, background vocals); Mars (drums).

As a fan of music and of a band, nothing can be more frustrating than seeing a great band make a fantastic album or albums and then flat line. Rocket From the Crypt would be such a band. After a few solid albums, culminating in the release of their classic Scream, Dracula, Scream! album on Interscope, the band seems to have been trudging over the same ground for the past few albums. Yeah, they survived that horrible ska ordeal where they were lumped among many ska bands just because they had horns, and they're still alive and kicking, yet it seems that they haven't truly ROCKED for many years. And with this album containing song titles such as "Bucket of Piss," "Dumb Blind Horny," and "Too Many Balls," it's hard not to feel as though this is some poor excuse for a jock's idea of a "punk rock" album. What's located on Live From Camp X-Ray is what has unfortunately become a tired routine for RFTC: proficiently crazy guitars, Speedo's contagious party vocals, and the horns thrown intelligently in to the mix. Yeah, it may sound good, and the strings on "I Wanna Know What I Wanna Know" are a step in the right direction as far as creativity, but the problem is that it's been done before and the ability to differentiate between RFTC albums is becoming harder and harder. Die-hard fans of the band will dig this as they have been digging these boys for years now. The rest will buy Scream, Dracula, Scream!, party hard to songs like "On a Rope" and "Born in '69," and leave it at that. ~ Kurt Morris

Despite the title, this is a studio recording.

Recorded at Camp X-Ray, San Diego, California.Spin (12/02, p.44) - 8 out of 10 - "...All B-52 bombast, delivered with an attitude that's pure black-leather-jacket, Del Shannon cool..."

5 stars Whew!
It's not live, but studio. (The title comes from a lyric in the album.) It's also not bad but BAAADDD! I lucked out by catching a listen to 'I Know What I Wanna Know' on Sirius. I gambled that the rest of the album was just as good, and sheesh -- It's BETTER. Take it from a new convert: this album is worth the pittance. It's not live, but it comprehensively ROCKS!

5 stars Rock and roll will never die
This latest full length from San Diego’s most famous 6-piece is nothing less than raucous. It is not a "live" record as we know it. But it is ten tracks of sweaty rock and roll that hit hard, heavy, fast and furious burning the energy from the in second to the last moment. Much like a "live" show. In true form, the Rocket boys reel their zealous swords taken in part from the fifties rebellion zeitgeist, and amalgamate it with sixties soul and seventies punk fervor to create one of the most original sounds in recent history. I know of no other band that can consistently meld horns with such a heavy two-axe attack backed by a fiery rocking rhythm section. Whoa! Yeah! Of course, the ten tracks presented here are best enjoyed at maximum volume in the quiet of your home or car anywhere where cathartic accompaniment is needed.

The name comes from Zaphod BeebleBrox, the main character in author Douglas Adams' science fiction satire 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

' BeebleBrox' music combines the elements of jazz, rock, funk, and world music to create a new sound, while keeping the fusion traditions of artists such as Weather Report, The Mahavishnu Orchestra and Chick Corea's Return to Forever. You can hear many influences in the music of BeebleBrox, but their sound is unique!BeebleBrox was first formed in Albstadt, Germany in 1983 by Peter Kienle. After teaming up with Monika Herzig in 1988, Kienle moved the group to the United States, to Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Herzig, composer as well as a respected jazz pianist, ...
