| | 90'S Pop Hits CD (3 Customer Reviews)
Though the songs on 90s Pop Hits definitely span the entire decade (Mandy Moore's 1999 track "Candy" is followed by Big Audio Dynamite II's "Rush," from 1991, for example), much of what is on the three-disc, forty-song compilation is taken from the dance/R&B realm of the early '90s. Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, Clivillés & Cole, M People, Xscape, and Sunscreem are all included, but so are rock (though no grunge) bands like Toad the Wet Sprocket, Sponge, the Primitive Radio Gods, Dog's Eye View, and the Spin Doctors. Trying to cover ten years in a few dozen songs is no easy task, and there are certainly a lot of tracks missing on 90s Pop Hits, but for those who are especially fond of the decade's pop-dance chart-toppers, this compilation will be satisfying. ~ Marisa Brown

90'S Pop Hits album
$11.99 Recorded between 1975 & 1984. Includes liner notes by A. Scott Galloway.
Released in 2003, A&M's Strawberry Letter 23: The Best of the Brothers Johnson more or less renders 1996's Greatest Hits obsolete. Containing virtually the same material, plus a selection that includes five more songs -- not to mention 24-bit remastered sound -- it thusly tops all the other anthologies that have come out of the ...
| | Everybody Dance Now! Remixed, Remodeled & Remade CDs (2004)
90'S Pop Hits CD music
$7.39 Someone at Sony must have a serious love of dance music, because it's hard to believe this sprawling, hard to figure out compilation was conceived by the marketing department. There are some big names on Everybody Dance Now! Remixed, Remodeled & Remade but a heck of a lot of little ones, and some that'll only ring bells for club historians with a taste for the mainstream. The big names aren't always represented by the big hits, either, but who'd expect to have so many hard-to-finds in one place? If you've been searching for the "Soul Solution Vocal Dub" of Cyndi Lauper's "Ballad of Cleo & Joe" or the "Stephen Nikolas Club Mix" of the Indigo ...

| | Guerilla Black Guerilla City CD (2004)
90'S Pop Hits music CDs
$11.89 With its understated black-and-white cover, GUERILLA CITY allows Guerilla Black to let his talent do the talking, delivering one of the most refreshing debut albums of 2004. When Guerilla Black began appearing on mix tapes, comparisons to the Notorious B.I.G. popped up so frequently that he addresses and dismisses the similarities in the first lines of the record's opening track, "Hearts of Fire." In truth, Guerilla's looks are strikingly similar to those of Christopher "Biggie" Wallace; the sizeable rapper so resembles the fallen legend that it's almost surprising to note that Guerilla Black is not related to Wallace. (His given name is Charles Tony Williamson.)
While Guerilla does possess a comparable relaxed style and the kind of dry wit that made Biggie Smalls huge, the Los Angeles native earns the considerable buzz his record generated, with his own remarkable skills. Guerilla Black explores the chaotic world around him with lyrical scenarios worthy of Nas, whether a stone-cold hustler with political perceptiveness on "Say What" or a tender lover pondering a future marriage with a new love on "Girlfriend." Flawlessly ...
