| | Default The Fallout CD Default Discography of CDs
(3 Customer Reviews)
This limited edition of THE FALLOUT includes 3 bonus tracks and comes with a DVD featuring Default music videos, live concert footage and MTV Rockumentary.
Not to be outdone by Britain's storied musical legacy, Canada's hard rock scene staged an invasion of its own. Canucks including Nickelback and Our Lady Peace forged a pipeline into the U.S. market in recent years, and Default follows in the wake of that success. Said bands' influence shines through, especially since Nickelback vocalist/guitarist Chad Kroeger produced Default's early demos and gave an earlier incarnation of the band (known at that time as Fallout) some coveted warm-up slots.
"Wasting My Time" is as chart-worthy a single as could ever be found, brimming with Staind-meets-STP grooves. Rookie vocalist Dallas Smith sings with the conviction and passion of a seasoned pro, especially on "Somewhere" and "By Your Side." Veteran grunge producer Rick Parasher (Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains) has effectively captured the sonic essence of Default. By design, THE FALLOUT comes across equal parts raw and refined; a perfect symmetry for this promising new band.

Most modern hard rock bands miss the mark by over-emphasizing great riffs and neglecting the importance of complementary vocals. Luckily, such is not the case with Staind, who owe some nods to Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst for career guidance. Durst encouraged vocalist Aaron Lewis to sing more and scream less, which proved to be a key factor in the band's development. The appeal of Staind lies in the purity and fierce emotional integrity of their ...

"Like A Stone" was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance.
A modern day super-group composed of ex-members of heavy rock titans Soundgarden and Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave was subject to some pretty high fan expectations. Luckily, the group delivers just what the doctor ordered: a seamless mix of the styles that made the individual members famous. Basically a stoner rock record ...
| | Depswa Two Angels And A Dream CD (2003)
The Fallout music CDs
$9.15 Depswa is yet another California combo to wade in the grunge and nü metal morass that oozed all over radio and MTV after the breakout success of Linkin Park and P.O.D. It's these groups that Depswa references most on its Geffen debut, along with frequent nods to the Deftones. But despite the LP's tendency to sound like what has been heard before, there's still some solid, if not particularly groundbreaking, songwriting happening on Two Angels and a Dream. Jeremy Penick's vocals don't lean fully on established styles (i.e., the monotone moan, the singsong rap yelp). Rather, he fluctuates between traditional metal vocalism and the quiet-loud dynamic favored by nü metallurgists. Likewise, his mates change up their instrumental approach enough to ...

The Fallout music CDs
$10.09 The second and last album done with Lukin keeps the Melvins' freak flag flying. Starting with the slow-as-hell "Eye Flys," which, if nothing else, shows off Osbourne's skill at monster soloing while Crover and Lukin play a rhythm that would be too slow even for funerals, Gluey Porch Treatments is, to a large extent, more of the same. Then again, with the possible exception of St. Vitus, not many other bands out there were embracing the love of sludge metal monstrosities as the threesome was (just compare it what Ozzy Osbourne himself was doing at the time). "Exact Paperbacks" alone would have eaten most purportedly loud groups for breakfast without even trying. The combination of sudden, herky-jerky thrash (but not thrash metal) ...
