Irma Thomas New Rules CD
Golden Age Of The Ink Spots: The Best Of Everything: 101 Classic Original Recordings. songs Irma Thomas balanced classic and contemporary sensibilities on this 1986 album. She did such songs as "Gonna Cry 'Til My Tears Run Dry" and "I Gave You Everything" from the 1960s, and also did more recent tunes, such as the title track and a good remake of "The Wind Beneath My Wings (Hero)." In the 1980s, there was little interest at urban contemporary stations in older, more soulful artists, and thus this worthy session got almost no attention outside New Orleans and the South. However, Irma Thomas can still sing with authority and quality. ~ Ron Wynn

Big Bill Broonzy Essential Blue Archive, Vol. 2: the Post War Years CD (2007)
Golden Age Of The Ink Spots: The Best Of Everything: 101 Classic Original Recordings. buy CD music These 20 cuts from the 1940s and '50s aren't Broonzy's complete works from the period, by any means, but offer a strong overview of the man who worked longer in blues than most of his contemporaries. He never lost his quality, even well into his career, either -- just listen to "Five Feet Seven" and you'll understand how good he remained. And his blues foreshadowed the advent of rock -- "Just Rocking" and a couple of other pieces make it apparent that Broonzy was one of the fathers of the new genre. Although he's thought of as a guitarist and singer, other instruments did appear on Broonzy recordings, especially these later ones, such as "Where the Blues Began," which is piano-heavy, but works perfectly well. By this time Broonzy was almost an elder statesman for the first generation of Delta blues players, and an international ambassador. From this collection, it's easy to understand how central he was to the music. ~ Chris Nickson
Broonzy's prewar performances built his reputation; his postwar recordings made him a hero to the folk movement that was just starting to emerge. Here are Roll Them Bones; Get Back; Southbound Train; Rambling Bill; I Can Fix It; John Henry; Crawdad; Hey Hey , and 12 more of his postwar best!

Juno Vega Surreal Thrill CD (2007)
Golden Age Of The Ink Spots: The Best Of Everything: 101 Classic Original Recordings. songs Once upon this time, a conglomerative force of musical minds combined their efforts to take on the world of rock, with a new flavor to entice the masses.
Their synergy was recognized almost immediately, solidifying on April 6th, 2006, when, after merely 6 hours of rehearsal together...ever, they burnt a hole in a South-Side, Pittsburgh venue with the raw force of their sound. Since that fateful night, they've been locked away in their secret headquarters, tirelessly studying the potential of their electric chemistry. Recently, they surfaced to release the first notes on their sonic experiments. Entitled, "Surreal Thrill", it symbolizes their supernatural urge to alterthe long-weathered face of rock forever. With more findings soon to follow, Juno Vega decided to open the "New School of Rock." JV may seem to be a local band, but don't turn your back on them for too long.
They are a force to be reckonned with. Merging genres like kids with Lego Sets, they're not willing to stop their endless crusade to rock every pair of ears on the globe. A Juno Vega show is unlike most you've seen. Their blend of tastes is sure to please even the most refined sonic palate. from the youngsters to the old-heads, there's enough Juno Vega to go around. It's easy to say such a thing, of course, but to actually bring it to the table and in plentiful sums, well that's really what sets JV apart from most acts. They offer up a refreshing change to a genre that will never die.
Juno Vega loves you all.

Moe' Tre Hood Thang CD (2006)
Golden Age Of The Ink Spots: The Best Of Everything: 101 Classic Original Recordings. songs Born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in the South Side projects, Moe Tre turned to music as an escape from the life his peers chose, that of gangs and drugs. In '96, Moe Tre moved to Cincinnati, started rapping and quickly became the Tri-State's most favored MC. After winning the nationally known Black Family Reunion Talent Show four years in a row, Tre started doing shows throughout the US and has shared the stage with acts such as Twista, Bone Crusher, the Youngbloodz, and many more.
Moe Tre has been featured in BET's 'Freestyle Friday' competition where he was the champion from December 2003 through January 2004. He returned to Cincinnati to focus on his studio recording. His release '6 Mics' enjoyed local success and the singles 'Hunh Who What?!' and 'Kick Rockz' gained moderate club and radio play.
Moe soon became the voice of the Bengal's' 2004 theme song, 'We are the Bengals' and appeared on their website and jumbotron. He got much attention from news outlets, sports radio, and fans at the weekly tailgate parties and became a cult classic. This also got the attention of the national sports media and led to the local FOX affiliate commissioning a song for the annual University of Cincinnati/Xavier University basketball cross-town shootout. The song was played on ESPN during the national broadcast of the game.
His last release, 'No Spins', described the local situation with urban radio support but also shows determination to work harder and not be the mascot of anyone just to further his career. The CD was written about in various local magazines, XXL, and The Source.
This coverage got the attention of Roc-A-Fella Records' Philadelphia camp and gave birth to the idea of uniting the two cities by celebrating their similarities in song. The single, 'Hood Thang', does just that- describes the focus of Moe and Young Chris to get out of the 'hood but not lose that part of the 'hood in them. This single is just the first salvo leading ...
