As Christmas albums go, this one sounds like most other releases in this category, and the question is: Do we really need another seasonal effort? Jo Dee Messina is a talented singer, always careful about choosing the right songs - ballads or power pop - but there's no room here for experimenting. The final bonus track "Keep The Faith" is the only exception. The rest can be found on hundreds of other Christmas albums sounding exactly the same. Let's hope for some new and exciting songs from Jo Dee Messina in the near future.

i like this christmas ablum of jodee's can somebody get hold of people that are in the music bussiness to see jodee won't sing more songs that honor God Alightly .i know that hers newest cd she wanted the song even God must the blues and it didn't get on there .and jodee was kinda dissappointed that it get on there i like that song myself the first time i see jodee in concert and she sang that song it made me cry.but it a nice song it says that God knows how were feeing he knows us better then we know ourself's thanks denise

Growing up among Afro-Americans in Berkeley, CA, Greek-American Johnny Otis (born John Veliotes) always identified strongly with people of color. Before he had attained the age of 20 he was gigging with black jazz bands throughout the Southwest, and eventually organized an ensemble deliberately patterned after Count Basie's orchestra. This highly charged album of historical musical artifacts documents the very beginning of Johnny Otis' recording career. With one apparently unobtainable exception, the Classics Blues & Rhythm Series has assembled all of Otis' Excelsior recordings, made in Los Angeles between 1945 and 1947. This provides background and context for his more well-known Savoy material, and indeed for everything this amazing person accomplished during the second half of the 20th century.
