This 1977 Atlantic album is considered one of the very best in Jean-Luc Ponty's five-decade career. Fusion classics include 'Question With No Answer', 'Waving Memories' and 'Echoes Of The Future.' Collectables. 2002.
Personnel: Jean-Luc Ponty (violin, electric violin, string synthesizer); Patrice Rushen (piano, electric piano, Clavinet, organ, synthesizer); Dan Sawyer, Ray Parker Jr. (electric guitar); Ralphe Armstrong (acoustic & electric basses); Leon "Ndugu" Chancler (drums, percussion).
Recorded at Paramount Studios, Los Angeles, California in January 1975. Originally released on Atlantic (18138). Includes liner notes by Al Fichera.
All tracks have been digitally remastered.
Jean-Luc Ponty, who at the time was still with the second version of the Mahavishnu Orchestra, is heard playing his own brand of fusion on this excellent recording. Upon the Wings of Music set the standard for his music of the next decade. With keyboardist Patrice Rushen, Dan Sawyer or Ray Parker on guitars, bassist Ralphe Armstrong and drummer Ndugu, the violinist performs eight of his highly arranged but spirited originals. His early Atlantic recordings (of which this is the first) remain underrated for their important contributions to the history of fusion. ~ Scott Yanow

JEAN LUC PONTY AND HIS MUSIC IS 5 STAR, BUT THE REPRODUCTION IS POOOR. I LISTEN FOR THE SEPERATION AND IT WAS NOT THERE.

If you're a fan of Ponty's earlier material (Aurora, Imaginary Voyage), you will certainly enjoy this recording. Excellent musicianship and good recording quality. A must for any Jean-Luc Ponty fan!
