Harvest album for sale Product Description
Harvest album for sale by Neil Young was released Oct 15, 2002 on the Warner Bros. (Record Label) label. Recognized as one of Young's (and hence one of rock & roll's) finest albums, HARVEST put the singer on the mainstream map with the mega-hit "Heart of Gold," which defined a soft folk-rock style frequently revisited by lesser artists throughout the 1970s. It also features some of his darker compositions, like the entropy-obsessed "Old Man" and the junkie eulogy, "The Needle and the Damage Done," one of Young's most haunting and compelling songs. Harvest CD music contains a single disc with 10 songs. ...See Full Description

 | Top quality 5.1 A historic albumn improved by 5.1 By a reviewer (Basingstoke UK) |
| Timeless musical content - forgetable video I purchased this album on vinyl the week it was released so many years ago I'd rather forget. It was interesting to hear this in 5.1 sound but the dics lacked any significant video content with the exception of still shots. You'd be better off to stick to the CD issue. | ODD OPTIONS I agree that some of the choices for surround on this disc appear odd initially. However, on the right system, you will get a convincing illusion of a single mike in Neils' barn, picking up the players arranged around it, at varying distances. It is odd, but authentic and probably exactly as Neil and the producer wanted you to hear it. If you don't have the time or inclination, the straight ahead high res stereo is probably as close to the master tape as we will ever get. Only ON THE BEACH has this level of intimacy and detail. | The 5.1 mix is fun, but not the best The reviewers below have some merit, but are a little harsh on the overall 5.1 mix. It does have a lot bass energy, but one can always turn that down if its a concern on your surround system. I agree that the 5.1 mix has some interesting choices for voice and instrument placement, but the fidelity is great. I simply lower the surround speakers volume a little and the mix sounds perfect to my ears. The music, as you most likely know, is one of Neil's best! By gpahler (Louisville, KY) |
| Poor Surround Mix I own many, many DVD Audio & DTS 5.1 discs and the surround mix on DTS 5.1 is very poorly done for this classic album. The vocals in general are distant, muddy & flat, not drawn out and highlighted enough, and there is too much bass. However, the 2 period video interview clips are a bonus. Of course still an upgrade from a basic CD. By HM (up north) |
