Williams Brothers - The Concert video
$12.45 The generally earthy passions of soul and R&B can sometimes mask their very intimate connection to black gospel music, a fact that isn't lost on veteran L.A. group The Whispers. During their late-`70s to early-`80s peak they were churning out silky pop-R&B hits like "And the Beat Goes On" and "Rock Steady," up-tempo dance tracks that fit easily within the decadent club sounds of the post-disco era. Still going strong nearly 30 years later, the group ...

| | Stryper Against The Law CD (1990)
Williams Brothers - The Concert review
$8.49 Personnel: Michael Sweet (vocals, guitar, background vocals); Oz Fox (guitar, background vocals); Brent Jeffers (keyboards, drums); John Purcell, John Purdell (keyboards); Robert Sweet (drums); Tom Werman (percussion); Tim Gaines, Jeff Scott Soto (background vocals). Audio Mixer: Eddie DeLena. Recording information: Devonshire Studios; Music Grinder; The Music Grinder. Photographers: Ed Colver; Neil Zlozower; David Perry. A definite improvement over In God We Trust, the grittier Against the Law is not only a more consistently rockin' album, it's also much more focused and inspired. The CD's standout track is an imaginative cover of Earth, Wind & Fire's "Shining Star," which works surprisingly well in a metal/hard rock setting. But originals like "Rock the People," "Caught In the Middle," and "Ordinary Man" aren't anything to be ...
| | Third Day Revelation CD (2008)
Williams Brothers - The Concert DVD
$15.05 On its 2008 outing, REVELATION, the popular Christian rock group Third Day continues to expand its stadium-ready sound by enlisting the help of in-demand producer Howard Benson (Seether, P.O.D.). Aiding the Georgia-based band in its secular appeal, Benson brings along two of his previous collaborators for guest appearances--Daughtry, who shows up to contribute backing vocals to the urgent "Slow Down," and Flyleaf's Lacey Mosley, who sings on the melancholy "Run to You." These high-profile moments, however, don't distract from Third Day frontman Mac Powell, a powerful singer who shines brightest on the album's uplifting title track. Though Powell and company may be courting the mainstream even more than before, the ensemble stays true to its faith-rooted mission with its redemptive lyrics, making REVELATION another sure-fire CCM/pop crossover hit. The pre-release hoopla surrounding Revelation, Third Day's eighth studio album, was eerily reminiscent of the hype behind 2004's Wire, the band's would-be crossover breakthrough. A breathless Billboard cover story even reported Revelation had all the makings of a disc poised for the big leagues, seemingly unaware that a similar machine pushed Wire to be a general market success four years earlier, to little avail. That album did go gold and cemented the foursome further in Christian circles, but a crossover it wasn't -- indeed, it was the same old Third Day, except rockier and with lyrics that were not as overtly spiritual. The particulars of Revelation are awfully ...
