Although Afro-Cuban is a common flavor running throughout the Tino's Breaks series, this is the record that embodies the music totally. Tino recorded only traditional Latin rhythms with a trap kit and overdubbed congas, timbales, cowbells, and bongos."Tino's performance soars to new heights . . . he is without question in his prime as a percussionist," says the Havana La Raza.Producer Ben Stokes recorded Tino in Chicago at "Voodoo Spiral", a space now defunct. "Tino really got back to basics, he wants to educate more than anything now." Although intended as an educational / anthropological study of Cuban music, this record appeals to DJs on many levels. It's raw syncopation and steady cowbell makes it optimal for mixing.Check out the crazy scratch tracks that Mike Powell, Jack Dangers contributed rare bits to.
No one puts the "fun" in functional like Tino, the action-figure alter ego of breakbeat mavens Ben Stokes, Jack Dangers, and Mike Powell, who graces the covers of all Tino Corp. albums and gets the credit for the multifarious breaks and beats contained within. Although these albums are primarily intended for use as raw material by DJs, they are also all genuinely fun listening experiences. Unlike most breaks-and-beats collections, they develop themes and proceed more or less logically from track to track, just like real albums! Vol. 4 in the acclaimed Tino's Breaks series focuses on Cuban and Brazilian percussion, with lots of fun vocal samples and some virtuosic conga playing. This is actually a reissue of a seven-track LP originally issued in 2000, with the addition of another seven tracks (including a brilliant remix of "I Like It Mambo," featuring cutting and scratching by the formidable DJ Inesha). Whether you want the content for your own professional uses or simply want to get the hips shaking at your party, Tino is, as always, at your service. Very highly recommended. ~ Rick Anderson
Producers: Ben Stokes, Jack Dangers, Mike Powell.

$7.49 "The first birth, domestic violence, the streets, anger and pain, the second birth, the calling of God, organized religion, witness to scandal, disgrace, the fall, grace, the resurrection, self-realization, the mission - Holy Hip Hop!!!"- Big JA Journey to Hip Hop With explosive lyrics, emotional music, and passionate flows, J. Bowman, a.k.a. Big J, bursts on the Holy Hip Hop scene. First and foremost a man of God, Big J's music reflects his personal journey with the Creator. The voyage that Big J has taken is represented in his rhymes - he fuses life experiences, views on the state of organized religion, politics, youth, and love in a format that both the young and old can relate to. Big J's path didn't always include music. After being a full time Minister/Evangelist for ten years, he left the religious organization that he had previously dedicated his life to. Rocked by church scandals involving sex, money, and politics, Big J, confused and misguided, spent the next 3 years questioning God about His kingdom.Big J's hurtful encounters with the church proved to be more than just a rite of passage. After God gave Big J the answers he was seeking, he began to express his conversations with ...

Tino's Breaks, Vol. 4: Mambo album
$10.15 Gregg and Dwayne Allman. Ray and Dave Davies. Noel and Liam Gallagher. Caleb, Nathan, and Jared Followill. Brothers in bands can make powerful, dynamic rock music.Barry and Chris Kingston. In December of 2008, these brothers have released what could be their crowning achievement with their latest record, Screaming Souls IV. The duo has revived a hard, classic rock sound, reminiscent of music they grew up loving. The music explodes from the intersection of Led Zeppelin’s Ten Years Gone and U2’s Bullet the Blue Sky. Where Zeppelin find groove and atmosphere, and U2 get loud, dirty, and critical, the song cycle of Screaming Souls IV begins. The brothers cut their teeth recording and touring around the East Coast with indie roots rock stalwarts The Breakdown in the 1990’s. The band reached a pinnacle of success with the then music orientated MTV playing their video for the Barry Kingston penned Standin’ in the Fire, in heavy rotation. A recession reeling, belt tightening music industry then took its toll, and the Breakdown descended into myth. Musically, the brothers parted ways. From the embers of the Breakdown, Barry Kingston formed The Screaming Souls in 1998. The Screaming Souls are a musical collective of a varying list of the best musicians in Western Massachusetts. Jason Arnold (the original drummer), is as flamboyant as he is a solid drummer. He is still definitely a fan favorite with his various guest appearances becoming part of Screaming Souls lore. Joe Boyle, who Barry has referred to at a recent live performance as “one of the best guitar players I have ever played with.” Here is a musician who can truly play with anyone at anytime. John O’Boyle, an extremely versatile, groove orientated bassist. He has recorded with Alexander Janko (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) and Chris Ballini (JCAT feat, Aaron Lewis), among others. John is one of those hidden jewels of a musician that can really lay it down.Screaming Souls play rock music like it was meant to be played—with feeling and heart. Renowned producer/engineer Danny Bernini of Spirit House Records, and Barry have collaborated over three previous full length album releases under the Screaming Souls moniker: Shakin from the Trees, Split Wide Open, and Live: Pass it On. This band has a back catalog of rock, funk, and soul that stands the test of time. Through Barry’s many performances, he has developed ...
