||Kingdom of the Spiders|
Before Arachniphobia, there was Kingdom of the Spiders. Is it as good as the former? No, but it does have it's creepy moments. Like when you realize that William Shatner is in it. Very creepy.... actually he is not too bad in it. But you don't watch a movie like this for the actors, you wanna know about the spiders. And there is a lot of them in it. Thousands of real,very slow moving spiders. Real spiders that the actors actually step on and run over with there cars and do some other stuff to. The point is, they actually killed the animals in the movie. I know that this doesn't sound too bad but it is still something to keep in mind as you are watching it. The best part has got to be the ending, which I won't spoil for you, but it is quite memorable. Enjoy the cheese!

||A Cheesy and Sometimes Funny B-Film|
Kingdom Of The Spiders video What can I say? I like cheesy movies that I can laugh at... I just wish Kingdom of the Spiders had more to laugh at. The film is worth watching just to see William Shatner's performance and the most unintentionally funny scene is when a crop duster pilot is attacked by a throng of spiders and he reacts by screaming like a little girl over and over and ultimately crashes the crop duster. Funny stuff. Speaking of funny... the theme song for this film "Peaceful Verde Valley" has to be the most horrible, wretched (albeit funny!) song ever performed for a film. It's just soooo bad! Unfortunately, the movie itself has way too much build up -- which some -- including myself -- may find boring. The spiders don't really start wrecking havoc until the last half-hour of the film. A bit of trivia: William Shatner's wife at the time, Marcy Lafferty, co-stars and the little girl from the Amityville Horror plays her daughter. This movie would be a good Saturday afternoon or late night cheesefest movie on TV, but it's not really worth the $5.99 I paid for it. Also, the film is not presented in widescreen even though the packaging touts this version as the 30th Anniversary Special Edition. No widescreen presentation (this is strictly pan and scan) and zero extras. You would think at the least the manufacturer could provide the theatrical trailer.

||nice spiders adn fun shatner|
it's a fun movie to watch even if the spiders are over the top. I liked shatners performance, it was not bad at all. Certainly the spiders are good in it, the fear and horror they create are marvelous. Oh and what the former reviewer said is not possible : a spider as these tarantulas in the movie is not able to kill cats, dogs or catlle, even not if there would be 10 spiders biting one dog or cat.

||a highlight of creature features!|
The spiders are horrible (and I actually like tarantulas!), performances for the most part are believable (with the noteworthy exception of Marcy Lafferty, who can't act for toffee - when I saw the film in a cinema years ago, her final scenes had people giggling. Ouch. ), and the ecological background is quite surprising considering when it was made. William Shatner delivers a believable, sympathetic performance. He clearly doesn't like the spiders :-) but that adds to his characterisation. Is it true the man never won an Oscar? Why not?
