| | Sanctus Real Face Of Love CD (2006)
Rapland Recordings: The Compilation
$10.75 Christian rockers Sanctus Real blend elements of post-grunge, indie rock, and emo with messages of faith and devotion. The band sounds very assured on its third outing, THE FACE OF LOVE, with smarter, catchier songcraft, tighter arrangements, and some nice sonic trimmings. The album's opener and first single, "I'm Not All right," is a melodic blast that proves Sanctus Real can be majestic and sweeping, while "Eloquent" is tight and nervous, and the title track merges a post-punk ethos with pop-rock. In all, THE FACE OF LOVE is an impressive showing from one of Christian rock's brighter lights. Having evolved from power pop to heavier rock back to melodic modern fare, Sanctus Real blend the styles of their previous two efforts on The Face of Love. The quartet takes listeners on a journey to a sonic realm of introspection, restlessness, and unresolved pondering as only they can do. If you swirled together Switchfoot's The Beautiful Letdown, Jars of Clay's Good Monsters and U2's How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, the concoction would sound much like this. The influences ...

Rapland Recordings: The Compilation
$11.45 Frisbee Records is proud to announce the release of ‘DraÃocht’ the acclaimed debut album by Dave Flynn.Reviewing the CD in Irish Music Magazine John O\'Regan wrote:\"DraÃocht is one of the most surprising debuts to hit my ears in ages. Dave Flynn sings and plays stringed instruments like guitar, mandola, mandolin, and bouzouki and pens original jigs and reels that sound like traditional tunes yet incorporate outside elements from African and Eastern styles.Vocally he sounds like Robert Plant on occasion and the floating quality of The Mad Magicians Daughter recalls the pastoral shades of Led Zeppelin’s acoustic moments. Guests like Manus Lunny, Liz Coleman and others join the fray betimes creating a band sound with a rustic Celtic vibe emerging. This is not folk-rock, yet its not Comhaltas fare either-rather it straddles a rootsy hinterland between the tradition and the contemporary singer/ songwriter world. An interesting and intriguing collection from a tunesmith, instrumentalist and composer, Dave Flynn is a name to conjure with and DraÃocht is very definitely worth an open-minded listen.\"Artist Description‘DraÃocht’ is an Irish term used to describe music with a spellbinding quality. Flynn has captured some of the ‘DraÃocht’ of the Irish music tradition to create his debut album.Produced by Flynn with the assistance of Manus Lunny and Paul Thomas, ‘DraÃocht’ features five magical songs written by Flynn with the lyricist Pádraic Ó’BeÃrn, alongside seven stunning instrumentals performed by Flynn with an outstanding group of some of Ireland’s finest musicians: Liz Coleman (fiddle), Mick Dunne (banjo), Aidan Dunphy (percussion), Conán McDonnell (bodhrán), Brian Ó’Toole (bass) and Ciarán Swift (guitar). ‘DraÃocht’ takes you on a unique musical journey, beginning with the brooding opening instrumental ‘The Tempest in Mali’ with its hypnotic fusion of Irish and Malian musical influences. Many musical emotions are explored thereafter from the epic song of longing ‘Stone Walls’ to the elegiac ‘Lullaby’. A unique interpretation of the famous Irish tune ‘Drowsy Maggie’ brings ‘DraÃocht’ to a haunting end.BiographyDave Flynn is an award-winning composer and musician from Dublin, Ireland who works across many ...
