U.S. edition of the Italian goth rock act's third album includes enhanced video track 'The Making of Coma Lies'. Century Media. 2002.
ECD Content includes: The making of COMLIES documentary, exclusive band photos, band contact links. Initial pressings included a limited edition bonus disc containing live and acoustic tracks as well as the videos for "Heaven's A Lie" and "Swamped." This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Lacuna Coil: Cristina Scabbia, Andrea Ferro (vocals); Cristiano Miglior, Marco Biazz (guitar); Marco Cotu Zelati (bass instrument); Cristiano Mozzati (drums, percussion). Lacuna Coil's third full-length disc will not disappoint fans of the group's stately goth pop; led by the excellent tag-team vocals of Cristina Scabbia and (male vocalist) Andrea Ferro, the Italian sextet continues to produce top-notch atmospheric rock that defies easy categorization. Although there are occasional lapses into conservative craftsmanship ("Self Deception") and trite lyrics, there are also some nice experimental touches, like the attention-grabbing start/stop digital editing in "Aeon." ~ Andy Hinds Representing a classic case of delayed fame, Italian goth-metal act Lacuna Coil broke into the American music consciousness via a much talked-about showing on the Ozzfest 2004 second stage, nearly two years after the release of their third album, COMALIES. Similar to its American counterparts Evanescence, this European sextet features the dual vocals of Cristina Scabbia and her male counterpart, Andrea Ferro. Despite the liberal amounts of keyboards added to the mix, guitarists Cristiano Migliore and Marco Biazzi more than hold their own, pumping choppy riffs into the 1980s-sounding "Self Deception" and the simmering opener "Swamped." What makes Lacuna Coil so unique in an often musically conservative genre is the band's ability to dabble with ethereal dynamics. Such is the case with the soaring title cut and equally potent "The Ghost Woman and the Hunter," both of which blend neo-classical riffing, swirling synth runs and a perfect juxtaposition of light and heavy vocal phrasing. To commemorate the group's Ozzfest 2004 stint, COMALIES was re-released with a bonus disc featuring nine cuts that include a mix of live and studio acoustic performances, along with videos for "Heaven's a Lie" and "Swamped."
CMJ (10/28/02, p.29) - "...COMALIES is symphonic rock that will appeal to even the most groove 'n rap-minded mall-metaler..." Lacuna Coil Comalies Songs Comalies Music Review Average Rating: (4.6 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Outstanding CD I was very impressed with this CD on the first listen through...which is how I usually judge whether or not I think that a CD is good. The first track, "Swamped", is one of the strongest songs on the album. I absolutely refuse to make comparisons to Evanescence, because I like that band as well, and I hate it when people say that one band is just a version of another. Lacuna Coil stands up on its own. Christina Scabbia has a strong voice, without overwhelming the songs. That chick from Nightwish is practically annoying...she could take a few notes! All in all, definitely worth buying. good goth/rock group Great sound and quality lyrics make this an excellent band who's songs please the listener whether they are in English or Italian(bands from Italy),what really suprised me is that I expected the single CD version of this title, but to my surprise I received the 2-disc cd version for the same price, which includes 9 songs "unplugged" or performed live for radio plus the 2 videos that aired on MTV-2, great buy, cheap prize!

Great new style This cd is one of the best new releases since 2000. Its not their first release, but first major release in the US. The music doesn't put you to sleep. Its a great change to hear a male and female sing on a metal cd. Submitted by clutchcrue (Minneapolis ,MN) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$8.99 Mudvayne: Chad Gray (vocals); Greg Tribbett (guitar); Ryan Martinie (bass guitar); Matt McDonough (drums). It's been three years for Mudvayne, three years when metal started to reject its "rap" and "nu" prefixes. At first, Lost and Found reflects that realignment. Vocalist Chad Gray and his mates have nixed the nicknames and makeup for their third Epic full-length, and they try to focus on songs instead of heavy music shtick. However, they equate getting real with the melodramatic plead that interrupts the razor-sharp main part of "Choices," and Gray can't overcome lines like "IMN"'s "No one/No one could ever understand/This life." The song is about suicide, which is very serious. But yelling "F*ck this sh*t!" over thudding rhythms just isn't very powerful anymore. They nail it on ...
| | Lacuna Coil Karmacode CD (2006) Enhanced CD

$12.69 Enhanced CD features the "Our Truth" video, 10 minute 'on the road' mini-movie, exclusive photo gallery and more. This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Lacuna Coil: Cristina, Andrea (vocals); Maus, Chris (guitar); Marco (bass guitar); Criz (drums, percussion). Italy's goth-metal practitioners Lacuna Coil are unique among their heavy-metal brethren. With their sharp songwriting skills and high-minded classical influences, and the evocative vocals of lead singer Christina Scabbia, the band has an undeniably distinctive sound. KARMACODE, Lacuna Coil's 2006 release, is one of their most ...
| | Bad Wizard Sophisticated Mouth CD (2002)
Comalies
$9.49 Personnel: Fat Bobby (keyboards). Recording information: West West Side Music, Tenafly, NJ. Photographer: Roderick Angle. In the short year since their debut release, Brooklyn-by-way-of-Georgia's Bad Wizard have quickly made a name for themselves as one of the Big Apple's hardest working and hardest rocking outfits, which might explain the speedy arrival of their follow-up effort, 2002's Sophisticated Mouth. Unfortunately, such expediency also resulted in an undeniable sophomore slump. Most noticeably, the album lacks the sonic punch in the gut of its predecessor -- not necessarily from a songwriting perspective, mind you, but in the production department, where it falls rather short in terms of tightly wound crunch. Some might see that exchange as a bonus for clearing the air of ...

| | Dennis Brown Money In My Pocket: Definitive Collection CDs (2005) Import
Comalies
$16.29 Drawing on the extensive Trojan; Creole and RAS catalogues; while also including numerous tracks especially licensed in for the release; this incredible collection can lay claim to being the very first serious anthology of the Crown Prince of Reggae's recording career. With every track featured a major Reggae hit; this 2-CD set illustrates why Denis Brown was such a towering figure on the Jamaican music scene throughout his adult life and its release will undoubtedly go some way to pleasing his huge fan-base; as well as ensuring his legacy is remembered for a long time to come. Trojan. 2005.
Contains an 8 page booklet. Producers include: Lloyd "The Matador" Daley, Derrick Harriott, Winston "Niney" Holness. Includes liner notes by Laurence Cane-Honeysett. All tracks have been digitally remastered. Although he was only 42 when he died of respiratory problems in 1999, Dennis Brown had already enjoyed a three-decade career in Jamaican music, a career that saw him begin singing professionally at the age of nine, begin recording at 11, and score his first hit, "No Man Is an Island," at the age of 14. Before the final curtain fell, Brown recorded close to 100 albums and some 300 singles with various producers, making any attempt to chart his musical history a difficult one. The impressive two-disc Money in My Pocket collection does an admirable job, though, and quite wisely gives most of its space to Brown's creative peak in the mid- to late '70s and his work with Winston "Niney" Holness and Joe Gibbs, his two most consistently sympathetic producers. Holness, in particular, gave Brown a wonderful set of distinctive, often eerie rhythm tracks to work from, and songs like "Westbound Train," the haunting "No More ...

Comalies
$9.25 A perfect session in the hard-as-iron frontline style that was Blue Note's stock in trade during the late 50s. Take 3 fantastic young players: Davis, Jackie McLean, and Donald Byrd; Give them a tight soulful rhythm backing: Sam Jones and Art Taylor; and you've got the formula for one heck of a nice little record. Davis rarely gets the chance to shine in the frontline -- and it's a treat to hear him leading a full group instead of a trio, especially because the horns of Byrd and McLean drive him into nice little moments that break past his usual style. Titles include "Smake It", "Rhumba Nhumba", "Minor Mind", and "Millie's Delight".
Personnel: Walter Davis, Jr. (piano); Jackie McLean (alto saxophone); Donald Byrd (trumpet); Sam Jones (bass); Art Taylor (drums). Recorded at the Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey on August 2, 1959. Originally released on Blue Note (84018). Includes liner notes by Joe Goldberg. This is part of the Blue Note Limited Edition Connoisseur series. Personnel: Walter Davis, Jr. (piano); Jackie McLean (alto saxophone); Donald Byrd (trumpet); Sam Jones (bass guitar); Art ...
