Closed Captioned; Standard Screen; Soundtrack English After a series of ill-fated relationships, Jane (Ashley Judd) has finally met Mr. Right, Ray (Greg Kinnear), who is emotionally available, and not afraid of commitment. Six weeks into their blissful courtship, he asks her to move in with him, and they start looking at apartments. But little by little Ray starts to pull away, until Jane realizes that once again she's been dumped. Jane's womanizing coworker, Eddie, just happens to be looking for a roommate, and Jane reluctantly moves in. Desperate to understand what happened, Jane comes up with a theory of interpreting male-female relations by observing the behaviors of wild animals. She shares this idea with a friend who works at a men's magazine (Marisa Tomei) and is given an anonymous editorial column devoted solely to her thoughts on the matter. But no one could have predicted the chord she'd strike among women with her theory, and the column's wild success makes Jane start to question her conclusions--and opens her eyes to what might be right in front of her. Adapted from the novel ANIMAL HUSBANDRY by Laura Zigman, SOMEONE LIKE YOU is a bittersweet, funny romantic comedy, and handsome, charming Hugh Jackman shines as Jane's serial-dating coworker. Theatrical release: March 30, 2001. Someone Like You Reviews: "...[Judd is] and intelligent and likeable actress....[She] has us rooting for her character Jane throughout..."

Someone Like You Movie Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) I liked it I liked this movie. I don't get hung up on acting quality or the directing style. I found this movie entertaining and the actors a good combination. I have watched it several times and enjoyed each time just as much as the first. Someone Like Hugh Since I am a huge Hugh Jackman fan,I really loved his performance in this film. Actually, I think the direction of his role was outstanding. In the beginning scenes, he moves across the screen and disappears outside the movie frame, making the audience want to see more. I liked the romantic story line. On the bonus disc, the narrator emphasizes Ashley Judd's performance but I don't think she kept up with Jackman performancewise. He is so natural. You can never see him acting. I love that about his style. Submitted by haboone2 (Philadelphia, PA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
'Twas good. Not to mention hilarious. I'm serious. There were several moments in that film where I was on the floor, doubled over with laughter. You may call me easily amused, but I'll just call you the Idiot Who Hasn't Seen The Movie Yet. I've seen it three times already, and still, I haven't gotten tired with it. Which is remarkable on its own. Most movies, I'll be waiting for the end of it before it's even reached the middle. So, Idiot Who Hasn't Seen The Movie Yet...do me a favor. Stop thinking I am an idiot, and go see the movie! And Easily Amused, get some sleep, it's past one o'clock in the morning, you looney!
Honestly, stop reading this. It will damage your brain. Go do something productive, like watch "Someone Like You"! If you don't laugh outloud at least once, then...I'll just assume that you're mute, and are incapable of audible laughter. Or maybe I'll think that I am deaf, and did not hear you in the first place...decisions, decisions. I hate decisions. Here, I'll make it easy for myself: I'll go watch a movie. Which movie, you ask? God, isn't it obvious by now....Really. Stop. Reading. This. I mean it. Now goodnight. Submitted by Aryuter (Davis County, Utah) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
