| | Maybe This Christmas CD (1 Customer Review)
Maybe This Christmas mixes some of the new millennium's modern rock faves and indie rock darlings for an album suited for those twenty-somethings searching for your not-so-typical Christmas collection. Artists like Loreena McKennitt, Sense Field, Bright Eyes, and Semisonic's Dan Wilson give these carols a fresh face while adding their own dash of coolness. Dollface indie boys Phantom Planet give "Winter Wonderland" a sweet rock romp, while Coldplay's rendition of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" is as endearing as the original version. The song features a solo Chris Martin on piano for a down-tempo, jazz-like feel. Barenaked Ladies join fellow Canadian chanteuse Sarah McLachlan for a playfully charming take on "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen." Jimmy Eat World's "12/23/95," which is also included on their 1999 album Clarity, is an indie standout. Maybe This Christmas is a solid holiday effort and both casual and die-hard music fans will appreciate its design. A portion of the proceeds made from Maybe This Christmas went to Toys for Tots, a charity supported by the U.S. Marine Corps. ~ MacKenzie Wilson

| | Poco Forgotten Trail (1969-74) CDs (1990)
Maybe This Christmas CD music
$15.95 This compilation contains 38 songs, including many new remixes from original master tapes, 6 previously unreleased songs, alternate versions of 3 others, and a comprehensive 36 page booklet, with historic liner notes and photos.
This excellent two-disc collection captures Poco's finest moments from the days when they were laying down the template for all the country-rock music that was to follow. It's hard to remember, but when the Eagles first hit the scene, they were thought by many to be a Poco-wannabe band. Listen to this set and you'll hear why. The Forgotten Trail (1969-1974) culls tracks from Poco's first eight albums, as well as unreleased cuts and singles. From the classic anthem "Pickin' Up ...
| | Souther-Hillman-Furay Band Trouble In Paradise CD (1975) Souther Hillman Furay Band
Maybe This Christmas music CDs
$10.65 With producer Tom Dowd, known for his work at Atlantic Records, at the helm, the Souther-Hillman-Furay Band seemed to be distancing itself a bit from its country-rock roots with its second release, the appropriately titled Trouble in Paradise. Here the band expands on the funkier aspects of its debut album, while at the same time slipping even closer to the middle of the road. On that record it was former Poco frontman Richie Furay who was responsible for the highlights, but this time out it's J.D. Souther, who penned four of the LP's nine tracks, who leads the way, with "Prisoner in Disguise" (recorded that same year by Linda Ronstadt) and the title cut the standouts. Still, ...
| | Ozark Mountain Daredevils Car Over The Lake Album CD (1975)
Maybe This Christmas songs
$13.85 The Ozark Mountain Daredevils' third album for A&M continues their good-natured Southern chooglin' with hints of a newfound mid-70s AM pop vibe. Although it was recorded in Nashville, The Car Over the Lake Album has a distinctly Californian vibe on several tracks, particularly those written and sung by drummer Larry Lee, whose contributions could ride along "Ventura Highway" with any of America's recordings. Despite this warm Beach Boys influence, the album is still a Southern rocker, evident on "Keep on Churning," "Leatherwood," and the slightly goofy "Gypsy Forest." The hard-rockin' push of "If You Want to Get to Heaven" is nowhere to be found on ...

| | Mae Moore Dragonfly CD (1995)
Maybe This Christmas CD music
$16.45 After the fascinating blend of crisp-and-clear cool and low-key energy that defined Bohemia, on Dragonfly Moore lets the energy bubble up more to the fore. It makes the album just a touch less special than Bohemia and a little more readily earthy -- the type of thing that mid-'90s programmers looking for the next Sheryl Crow or Sarah McLachlan were probably hunting for. But by no means is Dragonfly a bad experience, and with Gavin McKillop handling the production this time around (having assisted on Bohemia), Moore's backing matches her gentle passion quite well. Indeed, sometimes she really steps up excellently; "Pleasure Grounds" features some of her most direct, strongest singing yet, while the backing music makes for a miniature epic touched with a hint of shoegaze power. Her ear for the occasional calm MC break in her songs remains untouched, thus her concluding words on "Genuine," while the restrained funk breaks on "Love Won't Find Us Here" or the just-off-center rhythm of "Hollow As Bone" give some kicky changes to the album's general flow. The ...
| | Tah Phrum Duh Bush Sunshine Or Pure Shade CD (2007)
Maybe This Christmas music CDs
$13.65 Tah Phrum Duh Bush is an oddball amongst artists. Dude is so askew from the norm he is often labeled a weirdo-nonconformist-freak... “Hey man this cat just ain’t right!” Yet somehow, strangely his look doesn’t quite fit the bill! With the comparability to the rawness of Redman, the Energy of the Roots, the lyrical wizardry of Pharoe Monch and the savvy of A Tribe Called Quest, Tah has been seen on stage doing wide ranges of craziness. Tah can be found in the bowels of New York City on a stage dropping science and knowledge in one instant and in the next he's on the floor humping an imaginary sex partner with the fury of a sex starved bison while prompting the crowd to “Lay that Pipe!” Consequently, Tah Phrum Duh Bush has chosen to represent himself as the antithesis of all; the positive to every negative and the negative to every positive; an oxymoron live in the flesh! To be succinct he’s the epitome of "Filthy-Clean!" There is neither good nor bad. There only is what is: Sunshine or Pure Shade Straying away from the cliché of today’s generic musical formats, Tah Phrum Duh Bush gives birth to themes of life that 99% of earth's population can relate to in one way or another. From the pinnacles of mania to the deep fathoms of depression, Tah's artistry represents both ends of the Chi, both sides of the Yin-Yang and all shades of the spectrum in between. No holy person is without sin and no sinner is without ...
