Hammerfall's grandiose heavy metal posturing only narrowly avoids the type of self-parody exhibited by Manowar (for that matter, the bandmembers' outfits are only slightly less ridiculous than Manowar's swords-and-loincloths look). But fans of the genre probably won't care -- the band performs its soaring power metal anthems with spirit, dedication, and heroic execution on Crimson Thunder. This is pure classicism here; Hammerfall devotedly adheres to the genre guidelines of '80s power metal, without any attempts toward innovation. Includes an inspired cover version of Chastain's obscure "Angel of Mercy" and a rather pointless take on Kiss' already overdone "Detroit Rock City." ~ Andy Hinds

what a album must get this all the songs are great they touched my soul with the thundering beats and wow the music just gets you moving great album keep it going.

If you have never heard of Hammerfall or you have only heard one of the metal cranked songs, this album will be the best in your collection of hard hitt'n earth destroying music. I gurarntee, you will love it.

Hammerfall Rocks!!!
Hammerfall is a metal band true to form. this album has it all, hardcore headbangin' as well as melodic vocals. this is a must-have cd for any true metal head.

If you want great power, melodic, metal music this cd is for you. I gave this one five stars because that is the highest ranking the got, in my opinion is a 10.

This cd will surely make hammerfall my favorite band. If you want to listen to metal the way it suppose to be, buy this. Forget about american crap music.

Miranda Arana plays flute and whistle, and multi-instrumentalist Steve Vanlandingham performs on guitar, bouzouki, 'ud, and mandolin. Each tune can be a vehicle to take the musicians and the listeners to new places, creating unique and heartfelt expressions through the blending of musical forms, ornaments, and styles. Steve and Miranda's backgrounds make them ideally suited for this musical journey: Miranda teaches World Music at the University of Oklahoma and has explored numerous world genres, and Steve works as an archeologist and a musician and is a student of history and mythology. They met in 2003 when Miranda joined Steve's Irish band, "Banish Misfortune," her first time to try her hand at Irish music. While Miranda rapidly absorbed the band's Celtic style and tunes, Steve was fascinated by the Arabic pieces and Eastern influences that Miranda brought with her from her work with a local classical Arabic music ensemble. It all came together when the two had a chance to sit down together to try out some tunes one evening after a Banish Misfortune gig way out in Beaver, Oklahoma.
